In terms of spend surely the bar is now at a Tosun loan move ? Everton want a permanent which puts us out of the equation. So we now have that money to spend on a striker. Comparing him to Sako is like apples and pears. I'm generally hoping that if this move materialises, which looks likely as he didn't play today, then we still have some cash for a striker move. Tosun must be on a fair amount at Everton so let's utilise that money on other targets.

According to Sky has signed for us.

I feel this is a very unadventurous signing, he’s also not going to be match fit.

Hope I’m wrong.

Has he signed yet?

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

But we’re not signing him at the expense of another player because it doesn’t appear we’re going to spend on transfer fees in any event.
We’re looking at loans or free transfers whether we like it or not.
If it was a choice of no signings or Sako then I’d take Sako as it’s low risk, short term and he did well when he played last season.
People are entitled to ask why we’re not in a position to spend but that’s a different question.
It may be that paying expensive fees and contracts for the likes of Sakho and Benteke, over a number of seasons, has curtailed our ability to spend now and we’ve learnt a hard lesson.
Furthermore, I don’t see too many other clubs splashing the cash this window.

Fair points and I largely agree. However we have widely been linked with a loan move for Tosun so surely it can't be just Sako based on money available ? Happy for him to arrive as a winger sub but he can't surely be the striker option ? I know the January transfer window is tough but surely it can't be that narrow in terms of our targets ? Still time to bring somebody else, at least for the fans, if not for the defence, who have kept us afloat from Foolem and the Udders whilst watching the attack misfire for most of the season.

The way I see it is we've off loaded players that were no where near the first team. Sako was the most inform player we had until his injury. So theoretically we've replaced a non starter for a starter.

Are you suggesting that Sako then is a guaranteed starter ? He was the player we were the most likely to pick from the bench or play due to an injury, and that probably hasn't changed. This has only strengthened the bench, if that,as he has been in the Championship and frankly done nothing. I'm hoping he might be our Salah or De Bruyne but I'm afraid based on his spell at the Baggies I can't see it.

Perhaps he only plays to the standard of the players around him. I should think there are quite a few players like that.

He hit some form for us over about 5 games before his injury... Other than that he always looked like he should be working on the doors at a nightclub...

On the face of it a thoroughly disappointing and uninspiring signing... But if he hits the form he showed before his injury with us then he will be a plus.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Not really, just saying that he's closer to the first team than Williams and Mutch! So not really a bad signing especially as it's until the end of the season.
