And the ‘Mercantile Credit’ at Wembley was pretty sh!t. But far from the worst TBF.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Southampton cup semi final in 1976 at Stamford Bridge. I’d been to every game in that cup run, but we just didn’t turn up at the Bridge, maybe. It was nerves. I was gutted with our performance, only said about a dozen words for the next week.

Incidentally that cup run coincided with probably my best moment as a Palace fan when we beat Leeds 1-0 at there place.

Kenny Sansom leaving, I cried

Ian Wright leaving, I was on holiday in Cornwall, it ruined my holiday, although I didn’t cry because I was now a man

Being relegated in 1993, just two years after coming 3rd in the top division.

Lost 3-0 to Arsenal, Ian Wright scoring and i think kissing the Arsenal badge. The week before we were 8 points clear of Oldham, who then won their last three, including winning midweek against a Liverpool side who I can remember one of whom saying he'd rather Oldham stay up.

We celebrated a week earlier having beaten Ipswich convinced we were safe. Went down third from bottom on 49 points from 42 games with a record of won 11, drew 16 and lost 15.

So gutting when just two years earlier I thought we'd be in the top league and challenging for years. To go down with so many points in those circumstances was easiest the worst I've felt.

Lingard's winner in the Cup final a few years back.

United fans hadn't made a peep all game until then.

Should have won that game.

Quite a few to choose from but the one that sticks in my mind is the 1996 play off final against Leicester when Claridge scuffed his shot, in the last minutes, to beat Nigel Martyn- who had the expected (intended) shot covered. Gutted!
Nigel's last Palace appearance I think.

Even then it should have been ‘the great escape’ but we f’d it up in true Palace style with two successive home defeats against Hull and Fulham FFS.

I remember!!

Mark Hughes equalising in 1990, should’ve won that one as well
