Didn’t watch MOD, did they question the foul on Tomkins (flattened him) in the box?

No they didn't but then it is MoD and we only got a few minutes.
They were more interested in Wilf but even they were mildly sympathetic.
Wilf was fouled 4 times - officially - how many unofficially - maybe another 4?
He should be able to cope with that shouldn't he?
I do accept though that the bad ones that go completely unpunished are a disgrace.
I wonder whether Marriner will get sanctioned?
It won't be this weekend I guess as they were already chosen before last night but the assessor will have watched that display last night and cringed and then checked his betting account I hope!

Or a professional footballer with a brain, who knows when facing Wilf to wind him up and you'll profit. If we came up against a team whose best player could be so simply nullified, we'd demand that our players do it.

yep - there have been plenty of players over the years that the players and crowd knew to wind up and they'd end up hitting the self destruct button - Barton, Bowyer etc. - and it won us points and matches.

I was thinking back to one moment last night which I really appreciated. After Wilf gets the red Sakho seems to put it upon himself to act as avenger for the injustice and attempts to run through the Saints team. He seemed to lose his cool for a minute and show some real passion. It didn't work but I found myself shouting 'Come on Sakho!' at the screen. Sometimes I do miss the old days when players were allowed to show their emotion without social media and forums lambasting them for 'lack of professionalism'.

I don't think their goal can be blamed on PVA. Just watched a re run of the game. Their goal came about when they took off one of their 3 centre backs and brought on another midfielder. Around the same time Ayew and Zaha were swapping positions the end result meant Ward Prowse was not marked for the entire period of the build to the goal ( In fact the Saints fans were screaming for the ball to go out to WP in the early stages of the build up ) When it finally did PVA was 1 player against 2 in the 6 yard box which should never happen. It was a good tactical change by the Saints boss and we were slow to react and probably Zaha should have tracked the run in hindsight.

Whether he is able to cope with it or not, he shouldn't have to! That is what the Laws of the game are there for - to punish those that break them and hurt, injure and sometimes end the careers of other fellow professionals.

All the focus seems to be on Wilf, and how he should have comported himself better. When are we going to have the important big open debate about referees and their (albeit human) failings ...... or favouritism (as admitted by Clattenburg) or possibly even corruption (and let's not pretend that there are massive sums of gambling money involved in football these days.... remember the floodlights going out all over the country by the far eastern syndicates)?

I'm sick to death with Zaha's continual petulance and immaturity. This not only means he'll miss Fulham but the 1st yellow counts on his total, which is now 7 or 8. 10 gets him a 2 match ban and it will happen.

Hodgson should have seen what was happening and hooked him immediately Southampton equalised. The fact we only made 1 sub, to their 3 (again!!) was the main reason 2 points were dropped.

The BBC showed 6 fouls on Zaha, and Townsend, and they were all shocking. We only committed one bad foul in return. The ref had a dreadful game. Tomkins and Kouyate also injured. Bolasie is available. We might need him!

Loved that too. Reminded me of when he took control vs. Chelsea last season at home. He won the ball high up the pitch, drove at the defence then laid the ball off and the move resulted in a goal. Great determination and passion.

There were plenty of blatant fouls on our players. I think the worst was on Tomkins because the Southampton player Romeau was intent on taking him out ... he wasn't even watching the ball. Romeau appears to be a pedigree thug and I think he got away with everything last night irrespective of three pairs of eyes officiating. Not impressed with Southampton if that is the level of their play nowadays. Feel sorry for Zaha but there's no excuse for his stupid behaviour.

No doubt in my mind that standard of refereeing leaves much to be desired and that Southampton should've been a man down much earlier on. Would like to think that VAR could be used by teams to make at least one appeal for serious foul committed that has been overlooked by Ref. Feel for Zaha last night however he can't let his frustrations cause his downfall by way of second yellow card and one (if not more) match ban.

I like PVA but agree some of his defending has been poor this season. Why turn your back on Ward Prowse as he shoots pretty sure AWB would have blocked that.

Wilf? stupidity in the extreme.

Not that it will help us but restrospective ban on Stephens will endorse how useless Marriner was last night.

Is it the team or is it Roy that chooses to fall back and sit on a 1 goal lead like Palace did in the 2nd half? As good as the defense is, they simply can't hold off a constant attack. Even the announcers commented on Palace dropping off. The Saints goal was just a matter of time. One other point, Jordan Ayew is useless. Takes forever to make a pass, shots when there's no shot, lumbers down the pitch. What is Roy waiting for some divine miracle that he performs? All in all a draw that should have been a win.

As I mentioned when he signed and a few times since then, PVA is not the best defensively, often switching off and not looking over his shoulder. He is better coming forward than defending but this seems to be true of many modern full-backs.

Except he’s sh*t coming forward for the most part this season.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.
