Really good performance in the first half but the second half was awful- reminded me of games under Pardew! Couldn’t work out why we kept going long with a centre forward under 6ft who can’t hold up the ball. Our keeper never once played out from the back. Surely Benteke would have been a better option if we were going to play that way.
Andros showed how to react when fouled. Got up and got in with it but let Marriner know he made a mistake.
Wilf let himself and the team down badly. He gets fouled more than most but let’s face it if you were up against him you’d let him know you’re there early doors. Marriner gave him no protection but he needs to show more maturity than that.
I know we all think he’s our key player and we can’t do without him but he should be fined and dropped for tonight’s petulant behaviour. To be honest if we have to rely on one man to keep us up then we don’t deserve to be in the league.
At least we’ll field a changed side against Fulham. We have options up front now. Fulham can’t defend and I’d fancy Wickham to score a poachers goal or two.

Disappointing result after such a good first half.

We sat back in the second half inviting Southampton to come at us. Zaha (... and others) rode all those blatant fouls and got very little back.

However, you don't act like a spoilt brat and let your team mates down Not at all clever Wilf and inexcusable behaviour.

The goal we conceded was some of the worst defending I've ever seen by us. Every single player got dragged out of position or off their mark and left in no mans land with a simple pass, absolutely appalling, it looked like an All Blacks passing routine. PVA really should have done a lot better with that final pass too. Easily avoidable goal that let an otherwise decent performance down.

Agree with your assessment of Ayew’s performance last night. I thought he played okay, especially first half. However, the last 20 mins he was ineffective due to being knackered. It was crying out for a Wickham or Benteke to come on. Maybe they aren’t fully fit but 20 mins only and on the bench which must mean they are ready for some game time? Think that was a major factor in us dropping two points last night?
