That's a fair point but history was only taught up to a certain period.
For example, I was never taught about WW2 because it was too recent.
Being totally honest, I feel that the profile of Black people in this country is much greater than their actual numbers. Therefore, I am confident that Black history will be widely available for future generations.
I understand that Black history is important to those who feel separated from their cultural roots but the past is the past.
I like many people have been interested in my ancestry but I will not fall into the trap that some seem to do by feeling responsible or somehow limited by the lives of my ancestors. Other than sharing some genes, their lives and mine are totally separate. They had their day, with it's good and bad and although you can certainly learn from the past, we are not bound by it.
