Is this true? some ridiculous rule that because he played in the Copa Del Ray in Spain, he is now ineligible for the FA Cup?

That’s so f#@king ridiculous I’m willing to believe it true given the collective cerebral capacity of those in the higher echelons of football.

Mind you, would explain why I wasn’t allowed to vote on Brexit after my weekend in the canaries!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Don't think so as Higuain has played for Chelski already in the Cup after appearing in the Italian Cup for Milan this season.

You can't be cup tied from a competition you haven't played in surely?

Never heard that before. Chelski might have had it put in the agreement that he's precluded, but it won't have anything to do with foreign domestic trophy appearances.

If all else fails, the FA will rush in an emergency rule just to thwart us.

Yes I'd say this would be it seeing Chelsea are still in the competition. If they go out to Man Utd in the next round then that may change the situation.

If they can make that sort of strong stipulation surely they could just say he is precluded from playing us should we meet them in the competition ? We are not playing them in the next round. If we met them in any case would we play him ? Sounds daft rule if we don't play them.

In the Premier League, players on loan are not permitted to play against the team which holds their registration (section 7.2 of rule M.6). Loanees are, however, allowed to play against their 'owning' clubs in cup competitions, unless they have played for their owning club in that cup during that season.
