If someone can tell me who has given the ball away more this season than Jeffery Schulpp then please state your case.

Yes, he has some creativity (but not much) and he has been in the right place for his goals but to compare him with the passing and creative skills of Max Meyer is daft.

If we had more with Meyer's skill Benteke, Ayew (even him) and Batshuyai would be scoring for fun. And it might yet happen ....

PVA has.

Comparing Meyer to Schlupp is very hard, totally different animals.

Meyer played def mid for Schalke but apparently he doesnt have the defensive chops for RH. Jairo Riedewald played center back for Ajax but suffers from the same prognosis.

Being in the right place for goals is a rare commodity in our side.

I am not Schlupp's biggest fan, he gets the odd goal but on the whole he is pretty cr&p. He gives the ball away a lot, is suspect defensively and for a rapid player he doesnt beat anyone. However he is well and truly in Hodgson's good books.

Please don’t compare Schlupp and Zaha. I have seen some rather funny player comparisons here, someone once likened hennessey to gigi buffon.

Zaha and Schluppy are not operating in the same league.

I do fundamentally agree but Schlupp has 4 goals in 919 minutes of PL football. i.e one goal every 230 minutes. Wilf has 4 goals and 5 assists in 1883 minutes. I.e. a goal or an assist every 209 minutes.

Which tells me 2 things...1. Wilf is having a mediocre season by his standards, 2, Schlupp has an eye for goal (and we REALLY need that).

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

If players were ranked on stats alone ....

Yeh agree, Schluppy has shown he has a cheeky knack for goals, which we DESPERATELY need, as I am sure we can all strongly agree on

Zaha does a lot for the team that someone like Schlupp can never bring. Zaha attracts 2 or 3 defenders around him wheh has the ball, this allows the likes of Schlupp and anyone else to get more time and space.

As I said above I am coming around a bit to Jeff Schlupp, but comparing Schlupp and Wilf Zaha is a bit like looking at Ferrari on one hand and my old man's Opel Manta on the other.

Sometimes when you were in the Manta you would think this is no better than a car from the flintstones, and at other times it could excite you a little bit.

The Ferrari is temperamental and it can break down from time to time but it is absolutely electric when you put your foot down.

The Premier League? Which Schlupp has a winners' medal for?

I love the Schlupp. So powerful and direct. One of our most effective operators.

Regrettably his contributions have until now been generally underrated and his abilities unfairly maligned by a small minority, blinded by the grandstanding of our fancy Dans.

But I’m pleased to see just how much support he has garnered in this thread from discerning students of the game.

Is it premature to propose the formation of the Jeffrey Schlupp Appreciation Society, or JeSAS?

So does Daniel Amartey, who played 5 times that year.

Also Darren Ferguson, Luke Chadwick, Robbie Slater and Igors Stepanovs have won the premier league.

Stephane Guivarc'h has won the world cup.

Not exactly proof of quality is it.

As I said I am not saying Schlupp is cr&p, just very inconsistent.

He joined as a midfielder who could also play full back (or visa versa I forget) but his defensive play is his biggest weakness. Looks ok going forward.

I've been one of his biggest critics but I'll happily admit he has been not to bad over the last 4/5 games...

Still think he's been mainly terrible before this though. Of course I hope he continues to prove me wrong!!

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

And as for giving the ball away, Luka and Wilf are well ahead in that list...but completely untouchable when it comes to Holer criticism.
