Nonetheless the football was pretty turgid during his time.

But it just puts into perspective what an amazing job Pulis did with what he had on hand. His side averaged 23% more points per game than Hodgson's has to date

I think we, after 6/7 years in the prem are close to finding that happy medium.. but it took 7 managers, expensive flops, dead wood to find it... almost at the expense of the league position.

This summer is crucial, we need (and nearly have) a strong foundation to build upon and progress - using the objective to reach 40 points in record time each year.

Bentekke and Wickham need to go, it just hasn't worked out and sentiment, second/third chances don't cut it in this league. Cut your losses and replace with something that does work. They will find work after CPFC and will find their level.

This season, zaha, right or wrong has been shrouded in negativity which has effected his game, stats don't lie. We remove him from equation, he can start fresh, we an start fresh - i feel he wants out which is also part of it.

Those 3 players out makes way for new signings we should be eyeing up now.

year later, AWB will be gone, good luck to him, thoroughly deserved and that money brings in two new players...

It's being so cheerful and positive that keeps you going is it.

Agree totally. Pulis has a far worse squad than Roy inherited.

...in a league that had far less quality than it has now!

Pullis' short-term record cannot be compared to Hodgson's.
Stand still and you become Chelsea and lose by a cricket score to a rival.

What's far more significant is how Pulis got on after he left and how is doing now.

That doesn't even make sense... so you don't want AWB to go on to brighter and bigger things - even though he has shown us nothing but professionalism, shown us he can make that step up as his attitude to adapting is spot on.
You want to keep Wickham and CB??? Sure....

and ChrisCG, i feel time is against Hodgson - i like him, i think he has done well and i have enjoyed what i have seen under him (ohh er missus)... but i think ideally, we need a vision starting this summer and i am out the loop of viable options.

Yes, it's the viable options bit that stumps me too.

If Derby don't go up...

The premier league of 5 years ago has “far less quality” than the league now?

Nonsense.

Our team, yes, the premier league, no way. Where is your evidence for that fanciful claim exactly?

What is significant in a discussion about Pulis and Hodgson at palace is Pulis and Hodgson at Palace.

I would like to see Lampard have consistency with derby - however, someone else could come in and snap him up.. so it's a timing thing really. I liked Wagner, but i would much rather they do 'german' thing i have seen a couple of times where a young manager is shepherded for a season and then given the reigns when confident but that too can be a gamble, i would however definitely like to see a transition where the managers are similar in philosophy - honestly Roy for another year and then a long term appointment made.

NO, idon't want AWB gone next year, i want him at Palace as long as possible, he is getting better and better, why sell him before he has reached his full potential and market price, i don't want to get rid of Wickam either, and bye the way, your valuations on Palace players was miles out, 30M for Benteke, were you kidding?

Pulis is comfortably the best manager we've had in the premier league in terms of points per game. He averaged 1.46 points per game. Roy, Pardew and Allardyce all average around 1.2. Roy's actually just a fraction short of that.

The reality with Lampard would be that we'd be developing him for Chelsea. If he did well, that's where he'd end up.

Can't see Roy mentoring a younger coach. He's too grumpy and he doesn't want to hand it over yet...
