I didn't say that and have never suggested that either. All I have said is that the hardliners of the type which seem overrepresented on these threads do not hold views which are typical of the majority of those who voted to leave the EU.

The rebuttal was in response to the nonsensical claim that just because a small majority voted to leave the EU that those with strongly anti EU views can speak for all of them.

Most British voters are moderate, middle of the road types and not on the extremist fringes.

I have little doubt that some who voted to stay only did so because it felt safe to do so. Some folk are scared of change, just as there are those who always think the grass is greener next door.

As I said in my last post it seems pointless trying to debate with the hardliners because all you get back is entrenched positions and insults. So at least you confirm my point, which is progress of a sort.

So you accept change even if that change has no benefits? Do you apply that to everything?

Extremist fringes? Hardliners? There is no extremism on the HOL except perhaps for the extremely stupid.

Give me an example of an extreme view you have seen here? Just so we know what you consider extreme.

Post brexit we’ve had anti-immigration rants, pro-Tommy Robinson posts, a suggestion that all Muslims are potential sexual predators, anger at there being platforms for black people to celebrate cultures largely forgotten due to slave-trade and now people suggesting something as innocent as speaking in ‘black accents’ should exclude you from the job market.

Does HOL have an obsession with racism? When do you think it started to get so right-wing, bitter and scared of other cultures? I think brexit has given people licence to be far more vocal about their true feelings and ignorence. HOL always used to tackle delicate issues, with a real sense of debate. Now though, a number of posts come back to the same old tosh...an utter fear of foreigners or people with different skin shades or religions. Sad times.

the other Palace fansite is a bastion of perfection. Virtue. Squeaky clean and all in order. so much so that its become an autocracy.

If that is how you make big decisions, that explains a lot.

Good points.

White privilege is a myth.

Well I wouldn't go that far. I can honestly say that I live in a neighbourhood which is Dominican, Puerto Rican, Guyanian along with Bangladeshis & Yemeni's & I really am a minority being White & English, but I only have to stand at a pedestrian crossing & 99.95% of the time a Taxi (irrrespective of the nationality of driver) will stop for me & leave the other person in preference to me.

That's fecking weird.

I wasn't getting white privilege as a white boy growing up in Brixton I can tell you that.

The 'white privilege' term is the far left's excuse for anti white racism.....which infects it even more than antisemitism.....though I will add that you can be far left and neither of those things.

Maybe they are just racist or maybe they know which customer to choose from experience?

The strange thing about your post is that from my experience a lot less than 99.95 percent of New York cab drivers will be native born Americans or white so I’m not quite sure what point you are making.

White privaledge just assumes every white guy is on the board of a multinational. As said before another excuse for racism.

You mean by keeping my wife happy? Yes that's often how I make "big" decisions.

Of course not. How you reach that conclusion from what I have written beats me.

Extremist fringes? Hardliners? There is no extremism on the HOL except perhaps for the extremely stupid.

Extremism is much like beauty in that it's in the eye of the beholder. Those who are extreme never think they are so I am far from surprised that you don't believe there are any here. However, if we were able to poll a representative sample of the whole UK population I bet many would find extremist views in the comments. For sure there are some of the extremely stupid to be found here. Those who are unwilling to accept that people are entitled to act with hindsight, if they have the opportunity to do so, are extremely stupid.

Give me an example of an extreme view you have seen here? Just so we know what you consider extreme.

You won't agree, but anyone who apologises for trouble makers like Robinson, wants to close down the BBC, or expresses closet racist attitudes in their approach to dealing with terrorism or knife crime is setting themselves up to be described as holding views extremely at odds with the mainstream.https://www.holmesdale.net/page.php?id=99
