Rather surprised that Bognor Regis has not been included or mentioned as the town centre has fallen into disrepair,is filthy and badly in need of regeneration.
Rough sleepers on every corner ,badly neglected and has the appearance of a dog toilet.

I think most town centre’s are like that these days. I went to Torquay not so long ago and it’s a nice sea side town, they call it the english riviera down there, but even their town centre was naff, shops boarded up, graffiti, every other shop a pound shop, felt like I was back home in s***tingbourne.

Isn't Crossrail going to have a terminus in Abbey Wood?

How come it deserves a terminus? A by-pass is much more appropriate.

We moved to the Midlands from Torquay some twenty years ago and it was a dump then. I'm sure that it was a vibrant town in it's heyday in the fifties and sixties but cheap air travel meant that the only people that continued to go were those afraid of flying and the old

I have only visited the town one, about 4 years ago and I wasn't impressed at all.One of a string of places on the south coast which are far from salubrious and certainly not aesthetic.

I have to say I am not 'Sold' on Worthing town centre but I am informed there are a number of decent old pubs and eateries in the town.I readily admit to not visiting the town centre that often and perhaps my judgement has been somewhat clouded by my experience of it.

I keep being invited to see Worthing play but as yet have not been to any of their games - their manager is Adam Hinshelwood, son of 'Doris' !

Willo,
try 'the egremont' which is just off steyne, top right corner and 'coach & horses' which often wins awards for just being a proper old boozer.
in worthing old town is 'the george & dragon' not been decorated since the 80s & still has a red lit watneys red barrel back light behind the bar-Recommended!
Main town street certainly is grim, poundshops & chav sports wear but a lot of work is underway so fingers crossed.

Anywhere in the south east is bad.

Kent in particular is deteriorating rapidly. Overcrowded, poor infrastructure and noticeable absence of investment, poor planning ... if indeed they ever had a plan ... they just throw up tatty housing estates anywhere these days.

It's merely regarded as the access point for constant heavy traffic to ferries at Dover and the Channel Tunnel terminal at Folkestone.

Pity any poor bugger that lives here.

I have been recommended to the Egremont, also to the Hare & Hounds and Rose & Crown.I recall that you recommended the George & Dragon last year.I now have my free bus pass so intend to avail of it to visit these establishments !

Thamesmead/Abbey Wood. I managed a bookies there and a young child, 9 at the most, rode a pony into the shop!

Many a 'pony' has been lost at the bookie's.
