Looks like Chelsea have been give a transfer embargo for two windows due to breaching FIFA rules with regards to signing youth players.

Seems like it might stand as well due to the investigation in to this lasting over three years!

Thoughts?

Interesting things to consider:

What will happen with Hazard? If they sell they won't be able to find a replacement!

Or players who they were likely to sell anyway, i.e. Batsman, Morata, Loftus-Cheek. Will they now have to keep them?

Will an appeal be successful?

They'll appeal, spend big over the summer, lose, embargo kick in for January.

Some interesting factors have entered the equation as you have highlighted.

I would add that with the speculation surrounding Sarri's future might a two window embargo limit Chelsea's ability to replace him in that any prospective candidate might not wish to join the club under these circumstances ?

Maybe they'll actually give some of the fantastic youngsters they've got a chance now.

Indeed. They wont be able to find a new manager if he can't spend in the transfer window.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Indeed I alluded to this.
Furthermore attracting a buyer for the club could also be impacted by this embargo.

"You're not signing any more!"

Chelsea should be able to cope quite adequately when the raft of players they have out on loan return in the summer, and will be even more reluctant to let many leave as they cannot be immediately replaced.

It's no secret though that some of their players may well be looking for pastures new at the end of the season, and the FIFA ruling is unlikely to change how they feel. We know they're not exactly averse to 'downing tools' if the situation demands, so if the club now insisits on keeping them it will be interesting to see how it affects their performances, which are below par as it is.

I'm still expecting Loftus-Cheek and Batshuayi to sign for us permanently in June!

i have no faith in this punishment being carried out and fully expect Chelsea to appeal and get it overturned. That seems to be par for the course with these things. Big football clubs find a loophole and carry on.

I'd love to be proved wrong but you only have to read the Chelsea FC statement to understand they have no intention of admitting guilt or complying.
