There is still a cup to win as well. Could be massive for the club and an excellent opportunity to win silverware. Would happily win with a couple of loan players over "our own" players.

Loans with an option to buy are truly great deals. It’s a win win.

Loans with no option to buy and no realistic prospect represent the most short term thinking possible when running a football club.

It’s time to move on from short term fire fighting and have a proper long term strategy. We shouldn’t need to loan first team players if our recruitment was good enough. We are literally helping rival clubs with improving their players and the value of their players.

Did you notice the giant RLC sized hole in our midfield when we started out this year?

If it increases our chances of not getting relegated then I am all for it, but:

1 - with the squad we have now we should have been nowhere near relegation this year either way.

2 - whilst we give game after game to Batshuayi we are literally making our strikers even worse by denying them game time.

3 - if we are going to cut ties with benteke we need to get the most money possible, that won’t be the case if he is not playing.

As I said above while the spectre of relegation looms we need goals and points, end of story.

Once safety is assured we need to be planning for next year, not building teams and systems around the very members of our squad we can guarantee WONT be here next year.

Can't agree with any of this, RLC helped us to retain our Premiership status last season, Batshuayi probably will this season, or at least push us up the table, what is it, 1M plus for each place ?
What if you don't have the funds to buy a 20M-30M player?
there are two sides to your theory about Playing Benteke, suppose he plays every game from now until the end of the season and doesn't score any goals, that would A/ reduce our league table payments, and B/make his value lower as no one would want him, might even relegate us.

As I said, once we are safe, we should play benteke, IF we know we cannot sign Michy permanently.

If Batshuayi does well do you think he would want to stay permanently or is he putting himself in the shop window for a bigger club

I’m hoping he’s had enough loan spells that didn’t go so well to see us as a place to stay at least for a few years. Then again we may just be the shop window he needs. As noted elsewhere, loans with no buy clause aren’t ideal.

Michy will want to play with Euro qualifier coming up?

If he won’t be our player next year I couldn’t care less what he wants.

If there is a chance we want to sign him, can afford him, and Chelsea will sell him, then by all means.

Sadly benteke and CW are over. Apparently we DO have an option to buy Batshuayi. So let’s test our US owners pockets. The squad we now have is supporting this logic. I would also try and buy Ayew then out CB and CW.

OK, i take your point, but it could still cost us league positions though, each position is worth millions.

Link/source, genuinely interested as I’ve seen no comment on this?
