I started this thread because of my problems I switched dentists and went private and seem to have found a good guy. I thought I would need root canal or worse tooth extraction but he was confident that a new filling would work. It seems to be settling down so fingers crossed I have saved myself a lot of money. I would not have argued if he had said root canal.

Tooth extraction is cheaper but I have already lost 5 teeth and this is a key tooth for chewing so I do not want to lose it unless I have to.

For those of you who don't go regularly you may get away with it but you could be storing up big trouble in the future.

A close friend never went until one day in agony he finally relented. The dentist took one look wrote a note and told him to go to A&E he had cancer of the mouth. They cut half his tongue out and some of his jaw bone lots of teeth plus a load of soft tissue it looked like he was in a knife fight (scarface). Thankfully it worked and he is still with us although a little difficult to understand when talking.

Tooth ache is natures way of saying go the the dentist idiot.

One more point

my advice :

go onto google maps and get the pictured centred on your home, then pull out a mile or two.

in the search tool type , dentist. All the hits will be highlighted in red. And the key thing is all the customer reviews will also be available.

one or two places in the vicinity of our ancestral homeland in SE19 get respectively excellent and atrocious reviews. cos the customer doesnt lie.

Split my gum pulling a tooth a few years ago, obviously I didn’t realise at the time because it was numb, but I had to go to an emergency dentist late at night for stitches because it wouldn’t stop bleeding. No apology when I went back to my dentist to have the stitches out, just an ‘oh dear’
