Haven't been to the dentist in 17 years, never had a filling, toothache etc (touch wood).

NHS dentists have to rinse you to make money, it's in their interests to find work that needs doing on the knashers.

Cobblers to that root canal nonsense too, just pay a dental student £50 to rip the f***er out, it's an enevitability at this point anyway, why prolong it?

I started this thread because of my problems I switched dentists and went private and seem to have found a good guy. I thought I would need root canal or worse tooth extraction but he was confident that a new filling would work. It seems to be settling down so fingers crossed I have saved myself a lot of money. I would not have argued if he had said root canal.

Tooth extraction is cheaper but I have already lost 5 teeth and this is a key tooth for chewing so I do not want to lose it unless I have to.

For those of you who don't go regularly you may get away with it but you could be storing up big trouble in the future.

A close friend never went until one day in agony he finally relented. The dentist took one look wrote a note and told him to go to A&E he had cancer of the mouth. They cut half his tongue out and some of his jaw bone lots of teeth plus a load of soft tissue it looked like he was in a knife fight (scarface). Thankfully it worked and he is still with us although a little difficult to understand when talking.

Tooth ache is natures way of saying go the the dentist idiot.

Totally agree, go to the dentist if you've got toothache.

I find it bizarre that people go to the dentist regularly without symptoms, you wouldn't book a doctor's appointment when there was nothing wrong with you.

"Why are you here?"
"No idea, I feel fine"

"Great, Here's a bill for your trouble."

my advice :

go onto google maps and get the pictured centred on your home, then pull out a mile or two.

in the search tool type , dentist. All the hits will be highlighted in red. And the key thing is all the customer reviews will also be available.

one or two places in the vicinity of our ancestral homeland in SE19 get respectively excellent and atrocious reviews. cos the customer doesnt lie.

Yeah, Shame really. The comedy they do make is just to show how liberally tolerant they all are, like remaking ghost busters with women or anything with Amy "little miss piggy" schumer in.

Split my gum pulling a tooth a few years ago, obviously I didnít realise at the time because it was numb, but I had to go to an emergency dentist late at night for stitches because it wouldnít stop bleeding. No apology when I went back to my dentist to have the stitches out, just an Ďoh dearí

I kid you not the surgery in question is called Chopra and Associates
