As for your difficulty with the 'quality' concept being applied to groups....I find that hard to believe because you made it so obvious that you supported the idea of a 'black history' museum. A situation where you wish to discriminate on race as to what is included within a museum....Yet...me merely mentioning the idea that we can discriminate on behaviour within a group is suddenly so surprising to you.

So I regard this as word play on your part.

You specifically argued for a 'black history' museum....with arguments, which while I'm not convinced on...were I thought perfectly respectable positions which deserve consideration. Under your basis I think such ideas could happen.

That said, I think the point here.....that you don't like this idea of discrimination within a racial group is perhaps you being a bit sensitive. The point was just that.....a reality that all groups can be measured this way and indeed are....which is why these statistics exist - to allow some type of judgement to be made....and in reality that's exactly what society does to all of us....forms judgements in its snakes and ladders treatment.

It just doesn't make it overtly explicit....outside of qualifications and promotions.

‘Quality blacks’ was probably a bit of a lazy typing faux pas when something more like ‘Societally responsible’ or ‘higher achieving’ or ‘example setting’ black people could’ve have been used. I can’t remember the point not being made and in question but i think it was something along those lines.

I’d put it down to that rather than accusations it was some kind of sign Stirlingsays sees black people as sn inferior sub species or something.

The problem could really be pointed at there being lack of character in most in and around this knife problem and any that are of character give them a wide berth. Then there are black people completely away from it who are of course gifted or intelligent.

Being that you hold such tremendous sensitivity around your own racial identity, and appear to be seeing a future where we largely split on racial lines again, it's surely not much to ask that you extend basic consideration of others by not squaring up to one of the few non white members here by bemoaning the lack of 'quality blacks', referring to the community's environment as 'crabs in a bucket' and trying to shut him down with 'playing the' race card when he highlights your crass distillation of the qualities of a different racial 'identity'. You've played the whole pack. He responded to you in a dignified fashion and with humour and you had a further pop. Cathartic was it?
