I think there are much deeper issues than just police numbers that are contributing to this rise in violent crime. There are deep societal problems and I'm afraid these problems cannot be solved. I actually believe the problem is going to get much worse.

I am inclined to believe that may be the case. in the 1970's when I grew up, carrying a blade was a sign of weakness (unless you were French). In any 1-on-1 altercation, if you showed a blade and hesitated to use it, chances were it was taken from you and used on you.

Kids nowadays seem to form gangs and territories much more than we ever did. They also use a knife as a first-resort. Maybe it's drug-related, no-one seems to have any answers.
And you can use any supermarket to get a knife, or internet.
More police probably won't help, as the knife-culture seems ingrained in some sections of society

A lot of people putting the emphasis on police/politicians/parents/schools, and the answers probably lie, in part, with all of them. I went to visit a primary school recently, and they had knife-scanners as you walked through the gate. Schools are there to educate, not sort out other peoples 5hlt.

Simple question for you Pussy which requires a simple yes or no answer.

Do you accept that the majority of knife crime is committed by the black community.

Yes or no?

No, not seen the evidence and prefer not to muddy the water of the debate by making it a race issue. The 2 notable cases last weekend were not gang related

It's diverting from the real point about police numbers and rise in crime

Maybe you could return the favour - do you prefer less police yes or no?

I presume you mean Yousef Makki and Jodie Chesney.

I believe that no description has been provided for Yousef's killer (although thankfully a lad has I believe now been charged)

Jodie killer was a black man. He walked past her as she sat in a park and for no reason stabbed her in the pack. She was 17.

I think you mean 'suspect' when giving a description ?
Most knife crime is committed by non-whites, and ironically most victims are also non-white

The underlying issue is not really about skin colour, but maybe why youngsters fall into peer groups that lead them to prison/death

Okay, since you know more about policing than the commissioner of police please explain how less how less police decreases crime in light of the fact the opposite is happening?

The more sensible question is whether a load more police would be cost effective in terms of results.

It might be that technology is a better way of controlling crime where it can be controlled. The other problem is that the system often ties the hands of the police as does the obsession with appearing to be politically correct.
I seriously doubt that spending taxpayers money on a load more rookie coppers will actually get the results we all want.
This is just the usual bash the Tories bulls*** that the left always employs despite a left wing government never dealing with law and order in a measurably better way.

No I mean killer.

She was with 5 friends who all saw a black man stab her. Think it's fair to say he was black.

The initial plan is to have the current police doing more overtime and/or going into different areas where they’re more needed. Obviously overtime is even less cost effective in terms of results, but this community don’t involve themselves in either their neighbours or their own children in this scumbag stuff.

They’re mainly vermin who I swerve if I ever come close to them. The 5 seconds of satisfaction they get from feeling they’re someone is nothing compared to having a life they don’t and won’t because most haven’t the gumption to do anything. This week reminded me of a film called ‘We kill the old way’ I saw via the smart tv with loads of British movie gangster actors vs these people after they gang banged a girlfriend and stabbed an old retired gangsters brother. It sounds far fetched but it isn’t, apart from the shoot up at the end.

It’s estimated there is one CCTV camera per 14 people in London so they don’t appear to be the answer.
The police have sufficient resource to investigate hate crime - maybe they could dedicate less time to that.

Sensible thoughts like that will get you nowhere in our modern Police it seems.
