I'm not sure I will be voting for any party but I will be voting for my MP who helped me a lot with the DWP when I was suffering with depression.

Fairplay to you. I hope your feeling better. Yesterday's result doesn't help.

You raise an excellent point here. When a group of MPs recently chose principle over party the whips were calling for byelections on the grounds electorate vote for parties not people. I can't imagine any rationale Conservative voter in my area putting an X next to Failing Grayling, even he would probably tick the wrong box.
Some people may vote for parties but I would wager the majority vote for policies at the time and maybe equally for individuals.
In times when most people (and I think I can say that confidently) lack trust in politicians, if you are lucky enough to have one you trust then it makes sense to vote for them even if you don't support their party.

It's all about safe seats and political positioning for most politicians and you often don't see your local MP for dust.

An MP who actually cares about his or her local community especially at a time when you genuinely need help is definitely deserving of support regardless of party affiliation. I hope you're getting on well now .

Agreed, if I had a decent local mp I'd vote for them if they were any good, otherwise it's none of the above.

I can't remember which thread it was on but I was discussing my experience as a Poll Clerk and someone queried my claim that people walk their dogs when they vote.

Just happened to notice this on the BBC

[Link]

13.41 Dogs welcomed at Polls.

If you are a pooch lover enjoy.

the green party.
they've done such a cracking job in brighton.

crime up.
muggings, homophobic assaults on increase, beggars everywhere and not forgetting a drugs problem out of control.
still at least the vegan fringe are free to bully gregs staff & f*** up peoples steak dinners in restaurants.

Kids, tired of being bothered by your pesky parents?
Then leave home, get a job & pay your own bills, while you still know everything.

My daughter is standing for election as a Green councillor in Brighton

I am disappointed in her as she is with her own daughter who is a devout Marxist
