We have struggled for a long time with the players we have available to create chances from our midfield for our forwards to attempt to take. Creativity has just not been available and although fans cry out for Max to play I think it will take a lot more than that to put out a team who can get past a defence that puts 8 players in the penalty box against us. Just watched Man. city v Watford. In the first half it was like our game today City with all their quality struggled to break down Watford. They did in the end because they possess some of the best players in the world. We do not have that luxury.
What we do have is a team that can defend and break away on the counter, fine for playing away, but not good enough for creating against a 10 man defence at home.
What we need is to keep the core group and add creativity in the midfield to use in the circumstances we faced today.
Do not blame the tactics of our manager you cannot praise him for our wins away and then vilify him for our struggles at home. He can only work with the styl of the players we have.
We will survive COYP

all played s*** football

we do play good patient approach based football under roy, nobody can argue with that...points are points whether they come at selhurst or away.

maybe we shiuld just play benteke and longball all game every home game.

all the teams that come here apart from the top 6 come to stop us playing and do exactly the same we do to them away from home.

Why not switch wings for wz and at if no joy.
In game management is important
Saints made 2 at half time and won.
RH uses players because they " might" have a game like they did a few weeks ago.
Not like, last week!
He has his favourites and thats how it is.
I dont want 'more points than ever at this stage'
Take out our man city win and we are in it.
Is that really where we should be.
Common denominator

then excuse my french but what the f*** do you want then? less points? jesus wept.

every manager has his favourites...i assume you are talking about jimmy & jeff above max & kouyate.

on paper i agree with you, but jimmy mac runs thru brick walls for the team and i respect that so much, you need that tenacity. and to be fair about schlupp hes done well this season, we are belssed to even be having this conversation as 2 years ago it was mutch & chungy who were the options.

You read it wrong fella.
You said we had more than any other time.
Teams around us had less back then.
This season there happens to be only two teams already gone.
One place left for one of six.
Including us.
This season we should have more than we have.
I dont want less i want more and yes jeff and mcca are stalwarts but are they the best to start?

I’ve avoided looking at this thread all day.

Looks like it was a wise decision.

Good points well put. I think the question is why Roy doesn't change the team at home with what he has ? Does he genuinely believe it will all turn good sometime soon ? Is he fearful that it will effect our away form ? Is he happy with trying to scrape a point at home and get the wins away ? Does he worry about the sack ? 5 questions just there, probably others have far more.

Love Lukka and his committed displays but his corners are at times woeful we never look like scoring Coppell was at the game today might be worth having a chat with him as we used to be really good in the early 90s at corners. The art of the near post flick on seems to have disappeared from the game. Also gutted about today but we will beat the Weed at Wembley this is our year come on you Palace

it does not matter what other teams have, history tells us you need approx a point a game to stay up, we are above that average.

why should we have more points than we have? we havnt had a fit stiker for the 1st 25 games of the season ffs.

also tell you what, i wouldnt drop jimmy mac in a month of sundays.

We've got to beat Watford first.

His free kicks were rubbish today aswell.

This is the bad side of Roy. This has been going on for MONTHS yet nothing changes. Poor corners and poor free kicks. The lad takes a good pen but for the love of god Roy is as inactive as a sloth on these things.

The midfield of today is fine when away but Kouyate or Meyer MUST start at home.

As I keep saying Hodgson is an absolute master as long as we are away. Hate to use this word but frankly his tactics and selections have been exposed in home fixtures this season.

How many more times does the Selhurst faithful have to watch a defeat for it to register with some people on here that Hodgson’s approach is not working at home this year.

As he seems unwilling or incapable of changing said approach, expect more disappointing defeats at home. Wasn’t it Einstein who said something about doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different outcomes?

Roy’s stubbornness and rigidity is an asset in this game but also a drawback.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.
