Unfortunately this happened on both sides of the conflict. All parties tend to downplay anything they did, whilst highlighting the deeds of the other. I don't think justice can be done for one side, yet not the other. I would generally believe that all the inquests and charges now are not helpful. If the gunmen are let go, then the rest have to be too. Otherwise we're at the typical one rule for one, one for another depending on the political views of the time. And both sides can offer the same arguments, obviously from different perspectives.

Blair should have held a Truth and Reconciliation Commission for that. Anybody who appeared and told the truth would be immune from prosecution so only those who refused to appear or were caught lying would face justice.

Instead Blair gave a one sided free pass to the terrorists which allows them to continue to persecute former members of the army and the police.

One more point

I have a lot of Irish Republic family, and what appears to be largely a consensus amongst them and their acquaintances, is that they really don't care about "the North". They'd rather it was towed into the middle of the Atlantic and have nothing to do with it.
And as for accountability, I've always considered those in charge to be held responsible. This is a mis held belief, as time and again, subordinates following orders are thrown under the bus and those in charge evade justice.

You must deal with reality to negotiate a peace.

The other parties do not accept that they are terrorists, more likely that you are an occupier of their country.

And in the case of Ballymurphy and Bloody Sunday what else would they do but flock to the republican flag.

Blair provided the solution, he talked to the 'terrorists'.

The result 20 years of peace and prosperity in NI.

Tory governments prolonged the troubles for over 20 years they wore not even in contact.

A further look at the troubles on iplayer will probably give you a quite different view of the pulp you were fed over NI.

The Tories were actually in contact with the IRA during Thatcher's time.

And when you say Blair 'talked' to the IRA far nearer to the truth is that he capitulated to them.
