Like many here I only have an understanding of human nature and how it motivates behaviour.

What do you think attracts people to the entertainment industry? Sexualisation is apart of the fame business.....Many people are desperate to gain a footing within that industry. Sexual exploitation by those who control a form of access is going to be a darker side to that when you have lots of young beautiful people.......If you constantly swim in the sea, eventually you get close to a shark.

As an example, you are going to get more sexual exploitation going on there than you are going to get in the administration department.....though perhaps people have some stories.

Personally I've of the view that the child stuff is rarer, but It must happen because the opportunities for exploitation are there.

I'd say that if I were putting my children forward for child acting I'd be watchful about it.

I think it runs deeper then "warped ideology".
I think people struggle with how modern british society has to accept customs and rituals that are at odds with our beliefs

With mass immigration comes an influx of all kinds of everything, but I do feel that religious ideology can be problematic. People come to rely on them more in times of stress and disconnection and it's hard to think of a more stressful and disconnected time than settling in a new country. If you have the wrong voices speaking in your eye of 'guiding you' at a time like that I do worry where it can lead.

That's in part why I don't view immigration as a right for anyone. A country, it's people rather than it's government, should be able to settle on a system based on vacancies we need to fill, not cheap labour by the million. Even if we turn a blind eye to additional stresses on society, housing, care and infrastructure, who actually financially benefits from these extra hours being put in? Corporations? Most likely. The average Joe? Not a jot.

Spot on. Excellent post.

Just because something may or may not be good for the economy does not mean it's good for society.

Thank you, Tom.

I've been to countries with vastly different levels of investment and I can't say the living conditions have ever bothered me that much. People just get on with life. In the UK immense wealth is already built in anyway, so it comes down to allocation of resources more than anything.

That's an additional Brexit factor, the idea sold by politicians for decades that increasing GDP means we're all much more prosperous now and living it up now. Tens of millions looked to their own lives and considered that wealth may well have been going into someones coffers, but it certainly wasn't theirs.

Some people have been arrested for hate crimes by commenting negativly and praising this freako who shot these poor people.
Now ok if they have then they deserve everything they get but surely naming them straight away is wrong.
I thought you were innocent until proven guilty in a court of law so until proven i thought you remained as a suspect and a number ; or has the law changed and are we setting a precident.
Alternatively is it only a hate crime that has different rules?

Huge respect for New Zealand their prime minister and people for their humanity and care for the victims and families from the horrible incident last Friday.
Their have been heroes confronting the gunman unarmed and all manner of examples of how a community can come together when it has to.
Janice Ardern I respect you. Runs a country, had her first child last year and confronted this horrible incident. What a leader!

No need to behave like a dork just because you've not got a sense of humour

I don't remember that ever being the case. Unless under 18 or by order of the court, suspects are always named.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

I feel sorry for the poor lawyer that has to defend him as I doubt whether anyone wants the job
