I'm not sure the debate should be Jimmy Mac of Mayer.
It's more why is Schlupp on the pitch?

In my humble estimation, Schlupp has outperformed Meyer in that he has chipped in with goals, is more of a goal threat and provides a balance down the left.

I am not advocating that Schlupp has played with great aplomb but he has been better than Meyer who has been very disappointing.Just my opinion and of course there are those who will have a totally different viewpoint.

McArthur is a great option but shouldn't be in the starting line up if we're looking at that mystical progression.

We haven't seen enough of the Luka-Kouyate-Meyer combo.

Luka and Kouyate's physicality would allow us the luxury of playing Meyer, who has shown on many occasions that he keeps the ball better than anyone in our squad and can be incisive and break the lines.

It's fanciful to say but I believe a more progressive manager would unlock Meyer's potential.

Mcarthur has been one of our best purchases since we’ve been in the Premier League.
He’s played attacking midfield under Pardew, box to box at time under all managers, and on occasions on the right and left of midfield for Hodgson.
He never appears to complain about his role in the team and is pretty consistent.
I think some fans take him for granted.
He’s clearly a Roy favourite and has been preferred over the likes of Puncheon, Kouyate and Meyer in Roy’s time at the club.
Having said all this , personally I would like to see more of Meyer.
We need to give him a run in the side to see what he can do.
It’s not fair to assess a player on a stop/ start basis and I would like Meyer to play in the remaining games this season.
However, I feel Roy will tend to go for the safe option so don’t expect this to happen.

Kinda off-topic, but if anyone should get a run in team it is Woods to see if we can move Dann on this summer whilst he still has some value

IMO McArthur has been our best player over the last five years Wilf excepted. Pleased Meyer was given a chance against Huddersfield but his performance lacked intensity and courage whereas McAthur will show for the ball in any area of the pitch and (most times) find a pass. Given how far forward Meyer has played he should be doing more than looking tidy.

I humbly concur.
