I haven't seen the fight but I am not surprised he lost. AJ has not impressed me for a number of fights now I think he was lacking motivation. Lennox Lewis had a similar problem and struggled against the lesser opponents.

I expect AJ will get his head together and win the rematch comfortably. This is a warning to Eddie Hearn he must make the big fights otherwise AJ will fritter his career away.

It’s always wise to make your predictions after the fight :0)

I am shocked that he lost to Ruiz but AJ has not impressed me either in some recent fights. There will be question marks now about his punch resistence and whether he really is as good as many believe.Looks a bit Brunoesque with that physique and the fact that he looks a bit robotic at times.Major shock akin to Tyson v Douglas.

I was also thinking he reminded me of Bruno with that muscular physique. Often it appears that fighters of that build have tremendous strength but not the best punch resistance. Fighters such as Wilder and Fury appear much more fluid.

If you had asked me before the fight I would have said AJ would win. But I stand by my comments his recent performances have not been stellar I think he has got too comfortable and has lost his hunger. He can get it back Lewis had the same issue he needs to be motivated by the big fights.

I concur with these sentiments.

I think back to the Povetkin fight when Joshua was bloodied in the opening round and didn't look comfortable at all in the early stages of the fight.A younger Povetkin might have gone on to win the fight.

I read on the bbc before the fight that this was the first training camp that AJ didn’t feel ‘burnt out’ from. Maybe on reflection that hints at cutting a few corners in his preparation.

Just watched the fight & AJ looked knackered in the 3rd round, maybe not taking the opponent serious or something a little fishy going on. AJ certainly hasn't got a cast iron chin but his performance last night was terrible, got put down in the 3rd & still kept swinging instead of trying to recover behind the jab, infact I reckon his jab was on a beach somewhere in Spain last night cos he looked anything but a 3 belt champ

Extremely humble in defeat.

The loss is reminiscent of Lennox. Pretty sure he will come back and win rematch etc. These defeats should never be that surprising. Fights are after all a two horse race. They pretty much all lose at some stage, even the greats.

In many ways a defeat may make a Wilder fight easier to make.

Wilder will be rightly pl55ed off that Joshua swerved Wilder when Joshua had the belts.
Wilder would now be asking Joshua what he's bringing to the party ?
Joshua pi55ed off Fury and Wilder when he had the belts. I don't see Joshua fighting for a belt anytime soon.

Just to clarify:

Joshua did not swerve Wilder. An offer was put to Wilder which was turned down by the Wilder.

Joshua will be fighting for his old belts in his next fight as he has already stated that he wishes to activate the re-match clause.

In regards to what AJ brings to the table (with or without belts) is the potential for Wilder to make way more money than ever before due to AJ's box office sales. 8 thousand Brits flew out to watch lasts night fight. Wilder has had tile fights in his own back yard where he has not manged to get 8 thousand fans. In boxing money talks.

He was concussed after the 3rd round. That punch to the temple got him.

He should have been taken from the ring and not done the interviews. When the red stopped it he was just stood there - the look on his face was as if “...am I really here ... am I dreaming or who are all the people in my bedroom?!...”

Yes i heard that. It affected the champions league final as well with both teams being English premier league teams and needing that zip in their play.
