Taking a shot on the chin is one thing but a punch behind the ear can do more damage, especially to your balance and your legs. Yes, I think it definitely took it's toll. He's current favourite to win the rematch, but I don't really think another Ruiz win is that unlikely either to be honest.

"You can't offer [Tyson] Fury £15m and offer me £4m," he says. "Fury's not three times the draw that I am. I know what value I bring. Of course I believe I can become world champion, anything could happen. If the above is true, in his shoes I'd have just gone for it, because it's still huge money and a win would've made him the man to beat. I do hope he eventually faces one of the big names though. He deserves a shot, is highly ranked and is capable of causing an upset.

Yes, if he wins he can try to pass it off as a blip,or say he wasn't motivated for the first fight. A loss though would lead to a total re-evaluation of his place in the division. I agree that he looked so slow and lethargic. That may have been partly due to the two early knock downs, but it wouldn't be the first time we've seen him look out on his feet. The chance to get back on track before the end of the year is his get out of jail free card! Hopefully Fury makes fast work of Schwarz next week week to keep the huge Fury vs Wilder rematch on track. It would be equal parts hilarious and unfortunate if they all started falling short now that those mind boggling deals have been inked.

Some good fights tonight on BT. The return on the Gypsy king Tyson Fury takes on unbeaten but untested German Tom Schwarz. Fury looking good at the weigh in although has come in heavy at 263Ibs. In the past he has often struggled to impress when coming in heavier. Fury weighed 247Ibs when faced Wlad and 256Ibs when faced Wilder. Hard to see anything but a Fury domination though. Schwarz is no Ruiz. Also tonight there’s a great all British grudge match, Warrington v Kid Galahad fighting for Josh’s IBF wold title. These two seem to genuinely dislike each other. The work boxing Cruiserweight super series semis are also on tonight (SKY). Finally, for the connoisseur, Box Nation are tonight showing 1985’s superb middleweight fight between Mark Kaylor v Errol Christie at 3am in the morning. Loved these two. Shame Christie never lived up to his amateur potential.

Watched an interview by Tyson in the lead up to this fight where he keeps saying he hopes he gets knocked down by Schwartz, seemed odd that he was almost emphasising it so much. On the back of that I whacked a tenner at 20/1 on him being knocked down and winning the fight.
