Yes, I was there. 13yo lied to me man bout who & where I was going, ended up in the Whitehorse stand, wearing me Crombie, DM's, Levi's & Ben Sherman shirt. Can't remember if I had a 'Blueberry hat or a wooly skull cap on.

Wow, I cannot believe it's 50 years ago!

I was there aged 12 with my Dad standing on the terrace under the newly constructed roof of what was to become the Arthur Wait Stand.

Thought we had blown it at 0-2 down, but came back to win 3-2 to secure promotion to the top flight for the 1st time in Palace history. The scenes at the final whistle were brilliant and I took Cine film of the players throwing their kit into the crowd, perched on my Dad's shoulders. One thing that really sticks in my mind is the crowd calling out 'Bobby, Bobby' (reference to the injured Bobby Woodruff), to join the rest of the at the front of the Directors Box which he did.

That season is one of the best in my memory since I started watching Palace in 1964 and many of the players within that team have often commented about the tremendous team spirit they enjoyed.

Just missed understanding The Beatles, The Stones and Palace getting promoted in their claret and blue pyjamas (with primrose collar and cuffs) - saw them in claret and blue only once - when they beat Man U 5-0, and I was a Man U fan at the time, changed two weeks later, but I'm always fascinated by 1968 - 72, nostalgic for a past I was present at but did not notice.

Huge party on train home .The team and directors were on the train and celebrated with fans in their dining car . It was crazy with tables collapsing as tables collapsed from weight of people. Highlight of afternoon Mark Lazarus supplying a crate of light ales for the lads from train buffet .

I was 12. It was the game that confirmed me and my mate Hopper as Palace fans I'd say. As mentioned above, Fulham had Johnny Burn and Brien Dear I think-both of whom had put on weight but still had some class in their play. I remember Bobby Woodruff becoming emotional at the support from us all after the pitch invasion. The claret and thin sky blue striped top is a long way from modern kits: no sponsors and just numbers 1-11 and 12 for the sub, in a time when teams were only allowed one sub per game. Outfield players put in goal happened once or twice per season.
