The hilarious thing is, people asking if there's a middle ground between Roy and Pardew, we already with the extremely underrated Sam Allardyce.

It just shows how much the media can influence fan opinion because we watched with our own eyes, an organised defensive team (like Roy's), with direct effective attacking (Pardew) whilst also getting a tune out of Benteke and being really dangerous from set-pieces.

We just get revisionist history that Sam is boring and just plays long ball and is only suitable for keeping a team in the Premier League. Probably because he is Northern and English.

Big Sam is the best Manager we have ever had and unfortunately, he knows his limitations and knows what he needs in the Transfer Market to be a success and we were too afraid to back him.

I'd have him back in a heart-beat but the Board would have to give him money to finish his vision. He simply would not fail to get us into Europe, if given the required (but still realistic budget). He wouldn't be far off with the Team we have assembled now.

Sam brought in Jeffrey Schlupp and Patrick van Aanholt they are our weakest link with passing to another player ...say's everything you need to know about Sam.

Brighton, Newcastle, Cardiff, Bournemouth and Watford are not shit teams ..any team able to compete and still be able to survive this league with about seven games to go is far from crap, home or away.
All our players are not quite as competent as you think they are, opposing teams know who will make the most mistakes and we make far too many of them, Mr Hodgson is doing a fantastic brilliant job with them ..it must be extremely frustrating for him.

Cardiff, Brighton and Newcastle not s***?
Shows what you know. What a ridiculous thing to say.
Bournemouth and Watford also s*** in my opinion, but would have listened to sensible arguments for why they we're justified in dropping points Vs them.

If you swapped our home form for our away form, the mood would be different.

Those saying Allardyce, absolute rubbish. Most overrated manager we've had that I can remember.

Of course it would ... we've seen mostly $hite live football this season. It's NOT entertaining to watch and NOT what I travel in or want to pay for. If others are content then so be it but I'm not happy.

I feel the ' home ' pain same as everyone else. I'm a season ticket holder and travel a fair distance to get to Selhurst Park. It hasn't been much fun this season.

A bit more composure in front of goal and we would have had a few more points.

But you have to look at the bigger picture. We have a very good away record that has underpinned our league position.

Agreed. I have absolutely no patience with people calling for his head. He's a quality manager and we're very fortunate to have him.

The naysayers can, frankly, shampoo my crotch.

That's the BFS that got drummed out of West Ham and Everton for the boring brand of football that he peddles.

As for backing him, we did. And it still wasn't enough.

How do you know that he would only require a '' realistic budget '' And how much would that be then ?Look at how much he paid for Schlupp - are you going to tell me that's been value for money ?

I always thought of him as a money grabbing ego maniac. That's not unique in football I know but he's quite transparent about it.

We stayed up. Was that not enough? Also, I think Schlupp is underrated.

I apologise for the heresy, but I think BFS did a bloody good job.

My point being that we did back him in the market however the other poster that I was replying to claims that the club were too afraid to back him - hence my '' was that not enough '' remark.

Sam did a decent job while he was at Palace, that's undeniable.

As for Schlupp, yes underrated on here for sure, in fact that's an understatement. I maintain that we overpaid for him though.

Just my perception, but keeping SA happy in the transfer market would not have been easy.

The hilarious thing is, people asking if there's a middle ground between Roy and Pardew,

Overall, their records are pretty similar. Av points per game Hodgson 1.24, Pardew 1.21 + a few minutes form an FA Cup win. It seems most people judge them differently based on their personality

I'm abroad as well so get to see most games and there have been some good spells for sure. Looking back on this year, assuming we finish where we are, it wont look too bad. Great win at Man City, something at Old Trafford at last and beating Spurs on way to a decent Cup run

Of course, the narrow losses to Watford and Brighton hurt especially when Hodgson is so rigid on formation and lack of substitutions

And this is the crux of it. The majority of us pay good money to watch home games. We go to a few away games.

We played fantastic football under pulis, the turnaround from holloway was impressive, he was up there for manager of the season and just missed out.

He took the job after talking with his mate Holloway and a few others and i loved him at the helm. The players he had to work with, and let's be honest, he gave us our best ever finish!

I wanted him to do his thing, get us to be a boring mid table team and the tranfer budget would not have been what it is now, which means he would have over seen investment in the academy and else where.

Parish has shown himself to be a difficult person to work with, fair enough, his business head and ego souring the ways in which football is or has been.

Thing is, parish personally doesn't have the funds to wipe the slate clean and say, ok, 7 seasons in, we owe 45 mil, let's push on - it's, ok, we owe 45 mil, let's not increase that net year, keep treading water.

Fact is, every year the league costs more, clubs spend more, players increase, these debts if you worry about them are only going to add up.

We need to get back to a system where we have a cap on wages, scouts unearth quality, that will make a return on investment and youth is explored.

Benteke should never have been bought, Sakho was desperate measures - after 4 managers and conflicting styles, no wonder.

This is why i say let roy reboot this summer, back him and let him build a squad that suits each other and has a plan b.

Plan b has been available since the bench was fit.
Sadly roy doesnt even try it.
Im sure he knows a different style.
Maybe we will see it now we are basically safe.
It would be good if he had a real go for our last two home games.
Might not be too clever against city but against everton and Bournemouth.
