And the first and second goals were down to abject defending by Van Aanholt who had a game to forget.Much better coming forward than defending.

Apropos the game, it panned out as I expected with us dropping behind the ball trying to deny Man C space between the lines and with Man C having the lion's share of possession.Never really laid a glove on them.

Defensively PVA looks like a weak link. AWB looks a far better defender already than this guy. No defensive positional sense whatsoever. As a result he needs back up negating any movement forward on the left wing. If he is exposed defensively one on one he is weak. Okay Sterling is now a world class winger/striker but PVA's been found wanting positionally previously. For a solid defence next season we need a better left back, for attack, a dead ball specialist and a decent striker. 2-0 down we actually gave it a go and they looked shaky. Too late though, as we had a horrible game "plan" up to then.

City are the best team I have seen for a long time and we could have been three down at half time!
There is no shame in losing to them - BUT -
We give possession away so easily - unforced errors.
We panic - and not just yesterday - every week.
We ball watch.
We get sucked in to the ball too easily when opposition teams are in possession.
Van Aanholt is just having a 'mare week in and week out and if there were a replacement he needs a rest.
We are too negative and despite how good City were I still feel that we should have pressed them a bit more - we lack ambition and belief in ourselves which is a shame.
On the flip side it was only 3-1 and i would have settled for that so we move on to next Sunday where I think we have a very good chance of turning Arsenal over!

Luka and Andros in my mind we both poor in this department. Luka couldn't place a long pass and Andros kept running himself into trouble.

Love your optimism but they are on a good run of form at home and this fixture away has always been a graveyard for us. That said we were robbed by poor officiating at Selhurst this season on one of our better performances there and due a slice of luck against them so let's hope for it at the weekend. COYP !!

I take an alternative view of this.Arsenal have won their last 7 home games,in all competitions - it will be another hard watch for us supporters.

You confidently said Brighton would beat Cardiff tonight too!

We are beaten by one of the best teams in Europe, who are on for an unparalleled quadruple, and the defeat is due to the age of our manager?

I think 50%+ of the posters on here should retire.

Apologies Kant as I've not read all the posts on here but if the 50% you're referring to are complaining about Saturday's performance, then you're wrong. So so wrong. Yes they are a very good attacking team but they can be got at. And the very least I want is to try to stop them from playing and an attempt to play football ourselves.

One of my work mates is a Man City supporter, his words to me on Monday:

"What happened to you lot? Normally that is a really tough game you only seemed to have a go briefly. It seemed like a training game."

Exactly the same thing said to me on Sunday by my mate sitting next to me. We were so passive and lacking basic competencies.

I guess teams' form can come and go. Hopefully I will get to see a game at home where we play well but its been a long time.
