Dunno where you're getting this from. Seems to me that the majority on here blindly defend Hodgeson to the point of personal embarrassment. The few amongst us who show dissatisfaction quickly get insulted off the thread.

I'm annoyed with myself for responding to this as I'd decided I'd had enough of your predictable anti Hodgson posts and should just ignore them.

You talk about personal embarrassment - you should be well acquainted with that given some of the rubbish you spout on here.

As for getting insulted off of threads, well that's rich coming from somebody that's only been on HOL a short time but has already managed to get a yellow card.

Have a go back if you like. I won't be responding again.

Oh but you will Neilly my friend, you can't help yourself.

After all, you've got to police the interweb in case an anonymous person hundreds of miles away dares to express dissatisfaction with the Greatest manager of all time, Roy "pre written resignation letter as plan B" Hodgson.

I think the point you are missing is, Hodgson is being compared to previous Palace managers by a lot of the longstanding fans. He actually stacks up very well against all of them except Coppell, the rest by and large have had serious flaws, Bruce, Dowie and Pulis were good, but sh_t people, the rest weren't very good.

The new fans expect us to be pushing for Europe, beating all the top teams etc, the reality is it isn't going to happen as we haven't the financial resources of the top teams. The older fans still cant quite believe we are still in the Premier after years of being a yoyo club and see staying here as progression and are happy with Hodgson as he can keep us in there.

I'm one of these "Older fans" being 66 years old and supporting our team through thick and thin since the 60s.Being in in the PL is far removed from those dark days when our supporters used to get soaked to the skin before crowds of around 6,000.Long may it continue and I am rather relieved season on season when we have avoided the dreaded drop.

To quote from Painter I believe that Hodgson should be compared to previous Palace managers and he also should stack up very well against them as this is possibly the best team we have ever had. The exceptions being the Team of the Eighties who finished 10th and Coppell's early 90's side who remarkably finished 3rd.

Roy has a top ten team who manage to stave off relegation with a little to spare and isn't that the issue in question. If that is the best we can hope for, then I concede.

Before the "be care what you wish for" comments begin, both Stoke and Charlton were consistent top ten teams when their fans wanted more. Despite six seasons we are still nowhere near that and I would have hoped that we had become more than perennial relegation strugglers by now.

With respect, in the PL Charlton were not a consistent top ten team. They only finished twice in the top ten in 8 PL seasons.

Stoke in their 10 seasons in the PL prior to being relegated they only finished in the top ten 3 times.

Itís so frustrating watching Palace with such an incredibly gifted individual such as Wilf and us playing such mediocre football. We are failing Wilf and Hodgson is the culprit. Not only Wilf though we have a French international Cb in Mamadou we have a rising german star in Meyer who Hodgball refuses to start, but why?! Heís clearly a positive influence on the game he moves the ball quickly and links up with Wilf brilliantly. Donít get me started about Roy and substitutions we are massively under achieving and wasting the talent of Zaha in his prime. Move on Roy please!

Yes, let's. Sets up to have no ambition at all and just to limit the score but still concedes 3 and give up enough chances to be 6 down.

the myth that we are playing well just cause we sat back and had no wish to attack at all, thereby forcing City to open us up with ease is just laughable. Shows that people don't actually watch the game. No attempt to adapt to them having 3-5 players in between the lines all game, no pressure on the man in the ball making it easy for them to find said players btl, no attempt to support Benteke who was our one outball to relieve pressure and start counters, no creativity, subs too late

he gets away with absolute murder does Roy. But at least we only conceded 3 while killing the atmosphere, not giving City a thing to worry about when it is clear they panic when their rhythm is disrupted and they can't just go through the rehearsed patterns for 90 mins and have to defend. What a guy.

VAR would've only awarded them two and considering how much money City players are bringing home each week compared to our players we scared them pretty well and actually could've forced a draw without the help of the officials to kill us off.

I see, so it had nothing to do with the fact that not one of our players would get into their team and all of theirs would instantly be in ours ..of course it had nothing to do with that, how silly am I.

It's easy to be a nay sayer and hyper critical, but surely credit where credit's due. At this level even staying up is an achievement of sorts. Roy's kept us up and he's a grafter rather than particularly flash or inventive. He just gets on with it and has kept us in a position where we have something to build on.

We don't have money to spunk up the wall and no new manager is going to swoop in and transform us into a top 5 team overnight anyway. It's a matter of degrees at this level and there's positives to be taken from the season.

Proves the point that any team outside the top six are capable of being relegated and being a top half club is cuckoo poo.

The arguments about Hodgson are getting tedious and are ruining decent conversations about the qualities and performances of the team.
The argument which goes on and on is really about how good our team really is. Yes it is better than most Palace teams of the past but so is the standard of the rest of the premier league. The only real way to discuss the merits or otherwise of the team is to compare the squad player for player with the other 19 teams and see where we are. If you do that then you can see why we are about a 11-14 place team which is where we find ourselves.
Today every player in the opposition team including every single player on the bench would walk into our team and we did all right. Not great, I agree, but all right.
I really do not agree with the criticism of Hodgson as our manager, who is doing ok with the resources he has. I do think our recruitment policy is short-sighted and that is why we have the team we have. However I understand that in our current circumstances it is hard to find resources to invest in the future whilst fire-fighting our annual battle.
