Will he be suited to playing vs 10 defenders more often though? Just look at how top 6 games vs anybody setup.

With much better players around him and in a team which plays far more on the front foot, in my humble opinion this will benefit him.

Had to happen.

The style of football we have played under Hodgson this year has been some boring, negative and turgid fair.

Canít blame a flair player for wanting no part of that.

He might be seeing his career slip away, like some others at the club and therefore he is correct to want to move on.

Players like Zaha and dare I say Meyer would look a whole lot better with quality players all around them.

I concur with the general thrust of these comments.

You could say that about most players.

Tompkins looks better when he has Sakho beside him for example.

With respect, I think that's precisely the point Willo was making.

Tantalised by that lovely new Champions League stadium in Tottenham last week, son?

If he does go to another Prem team I'd rather Tottenham than any of the others, but I feel Dortmund would be his best choice. Unlikely to want to move his family though.

I think he's worth far more to us than any other club would ever bid for him, largely because his end product still isn't consistent enough and his attitude problems on the pitch only seem to be getting worse, allowing opponents to remove him as a threat simply by winding him up. If he demands a move we might get only £50 million or so for a player without whom we'd have been relegated many times by now.

Agreed. Heís the type of big money signing that could get managers sacked.

Hardly a surprise he wants to go.

Who would we rather keep, Zaha or Hodgson.

I wouldnít begrudge him a move but would regard it as slightly disrespectful if he has indeed given an interview saying he wants to leave. Weíve built his career up, twice, so would expect stuff like that to be kept behind closed doors. Not that Iím entirely convinced the quotes are genuine.

Itís all very well posters saying they donít care about wilfs personal ambitions and only interested in palace which is more than fair however itís only because of the air of inevitability with Wilf leaving. We all knew this day would come. Heís outgrown us. A player of his talent rightly has ambitions far loftier than ours. Iím not even sure what our ambitions are beyond 17th place. Heís one of two high value assets that we have on the playing staff, we are broke, up to our eyeballs in ffp. Of course he was always going to go. The only factor here is whether some one actually stumps up the cash for him.

Well I donít know about you lot but I am a Crystal Palace supporter and I support the players playing for my club. All this BS about these players that have been ďgood servantsĒ to our club and they deserve the chance to go elsewhere bla bla bla. They get paid very well for playing for the club I support and we pay for a lot of that and I probably earn in a year what they earn in two days!!!!!!!!!! If he wants to leave so be it but it doesnít mean I have to be happy for him and I definitely wonít be supporting someone who doesnít play for the CLUB I SUPPORT!!!!

Agree 100%
In fact Iíd go a bit further and say as heís only 26 ,Iíd like him to fail massively , like last time and we will get him back for pocket change at 28ish.
Canít see a big enough offer coming from a top 6 team in England.
