I was hooked as a 9 year old so there wasn't much choice for me.

If I were only now looking at Football and deciding what club to support....when you take geographic out of it the biggest aspect for me would be the stadium.

On that ground (forgive the pun) Palace probably wouldn't get the vote. If I lived in London it would probably be Spurs.

But I'm Palace, win, lose or draw and that's pretty much full stop.

I didn't choose Palace as my team, by default Palace chose me...

As for Modern CPFC - no different to the old one...

Nothing wrong with ambition ? I couldn't agree more. I've been ambitious in my professional life and I've done ok.

But it has to be realistic .

Charlton are often quoted as it's the most memorable example of a club of then similar size. A friend of mine was on the Board when Curbishly was ousted because of people like you demanding more without having a clue as to the difficulties associated with doing so. If you hadn't noticed, the effects of that decision are still being felt at Charlton today.

For Palace the first priority is to stay in the Premier League. Win that race to X number of points and then push on. I'm willing to bet that is the same at a good number of other clubs. Then you have those with massive financial means - West Ham, Everton, Leicester and Wolves that have ' achieved ' little more than upper mid table. Only Watford have been the exception and they have 7 points more than us. In theory we could end the season on that number or not far adrift.

If that's not good enough for you and your ambitions, you do have a choice as you well know.

Anyway, it's actually pointless trying to debate anything with you because you have your own agenda and do not respect any other views other than your own.

Now that is pathetic.

Oh dear o dear.

It's a bit frustrating seeing that table - even an average home season would have seen us in 7th at the moment.

Anyway, for me the Championship comparison always comes back to the Hillsborough game. You can look at crap 1-0 home defeats to Plymouth where you don't have a shot and wonder what you're doing watching football. Hillsborough though was the epitome of excitement - everything on the line. It was fun as hell, but in a really sick way.

I wouldn't want us to undervalue what this current period is doing for the club. Had we not gone up, with our infrastructure (ground, training ground) we'd be nowhere in the Championship now. There's clubs that still outclass us on those fronts.

Once we've got that side of the club invested in, we'll be set up for the future in a way we could have only dreamed of. It is fun to watch a team that has the ability to pick up 7 points at the Etihad, Old Trafford and the Emirates. Annoying at home, but hopefully we can swing that around and enter the next phase of the club's history.

I wasn't at Hillsborough but I was at Stockport, waiting listening to the radio for the final whistle to go at Huddersfield.

For those who accuse me of "lack of ambition", as far as the top tier is concerned there is top 6 and the rest. there is currently a 15 point gap between 6th and 7th place. We are "the rest". Burnley finished 7th last season and almost got relegated this. Southampton finished 8th twice and have struggled since. Everton spent £150 million trying to break into the top 6 and ended up appointing Allardyce to stop them getting relegated.

It is impossible for a normal club to compete with Emirati oil money, Russian Oligarch money, etc etc. The top 6 all have stadiums seating 60,000 give or take, and unlimited reserves of cash to burn. This is now working its way down the division, with huge outside money at clubs like Bournemouth even.

It is not a lack of ambition that says "we are not going to break into the top 6". This is a golden time to be a Palace fan so enjoy it and stop whinging.

Don't deprive them of their fun because they just love whinging and moaning. Don't you know they know it all and would do a far better job than any Manager Parish could find.

If I could wave a magic wand that'd guarantee us exactly the same results/performances as this season for the next 5 years then I would. It might not be pretty or exciting but it'd allow us to become a financially stable, fully established side with an improved stadium to boot. Sorry if that's aiming low but I'm in it for the long run.

Except that skinflint Steve Parish would not be the Chairman would he, it would be some representative of Saudi Arabian petro dollars.

If you look up the previous five seasons we've been in the league, the tables looks similar.

The team has been a counter attacking one since Freedman put it together in the championship, making us better suited to away wins than home ones (drastically so, plainly) and every attempt since then to change playing style has led to burnt fingers.

Personally, if 8 years ago I'd have been offered promotion followed by six years of what's on the link, including a cup final, a new training ground and new main stand on the way, I'd have bit your hand off. Just take a minute to think back to where we actually were.

At the same time, most of us watch the team at home of course, and it hasn't always been easy.

So, honestly, would you have taken what we got? Would you prefer to see them winning championship home games? Would you be happy with another few years of the same?

Makes you think. Well, it's made me think anyway, but then I've had a beer on account of the great away win today...

The premier league is the place to be, im loving every min of it. Watching the best players in the world every week is amazing, full stadiums every week. The thought of watching championship football makes me shudder. when i see old clips of us in the championship and the s***e players we had to watch, im so glad we are where we are, long may it continue.

I’m happy with where we are but I’m bored watching what we’re seeing, but as the small stadium is full it doesn’t matter. I can say I’m bored if I want while I’m a season ticket holder without saying I want Roy out. He’ll be leaving in the nearish future anyway.

I think I’m more frustrated than bored, especially in relation to the home form. There are times when we play the same at home against the top 6 as well as the those below them. Not sure why that is, but that’s the frustration as there are times we should just go for it rather than sitting back? With that said I love having this long run in the prem and long may it continue. It is a thin line though as a few weeks back we were heading for the semi final at Wembley and perhaps even the final? Then we lost Sakho followed by Tompkins. Plus we had a home match against Brighton for which Sakho was injured the match before. I’m sure if we had beaten Watford in the quarter finals and Brighton at home our season would have been superb rather than mediocre. It really is a thin line, but I know as an old geezer that’s followed Palace for over 50 years what division I want to see us in. Premier every time :-)

No disrespect intended, but what does that sentence mean?
