I think the lie detector aspect was what did the show in. They are notoriously unreliable and condemned the guy as a cheat, which then led to the end of his relationship, and we know the rest. We are left with the possibility that a duff result taken as gospel resulted in someone topping himself.

Though, of course as you say all of these reality TV shows are just voyeuristic, amoral money spinners.

Correct.

Except it's unlikely that the inmates of Bedlam consented to being made a spectacle of. Also, the Kyle show audience tended (generally) to be made up of people who weren't rich ie of people of the same ilk as the participants. Apart from that, it's a great analogy.

Most of the guests on the show live awful, debauched lives, not a tooth between them: the sort of people who spend most of their time in nick smearing their poo around the place or self harming, or worse, fraudulently claiming benefits.

I'd pay a fiver to poke one of them with a stick through some bars whilst they danced for their dinner, no problem!

Not all the ways of the past are without merit. Now that Jazza is no more, let's do away with figurative Bedlam and bring back the real thing!

The fact remains that these poor humans exist and they do so because of failings in the system which we all try to survive in, whether the failings are of their own doing or not the highlighting of them by this programme has it's merits, many have mentioned that they could not believe or understand how these humans came about so they now understand what a great job it was doing in highlighting the fact that this is happening not just here but everywhere around the world.
It is not hard to realise where these poor humans all congregate is it and where to go to witness their living standards ..I think we all understand poor housing and although the majority do not behave in this way it will not be very hard to find some that revel in it.
Lets just brush it under the carpet and watch Police Interceptors, 24 Hours in Police Custody, Police Camera Action etc..

Bring back Robert Kilroy-Silk I loved him.

Go out grafting (northern slang for thieving).

If you venture into the north or Kent or Essex you’ll find loads of these people.

One person commits suicide after being ritually humiliated on TV - public uproar, including from the Prime Minister, show gets canned.

Numerous suicides because the DWP routinely f*ck up benefit and pension payments - silence.

Our sense of perspective seems to have been left behind somewhere.

Please expand on this, in particular explaining the link with the Jeremy Kyle show. I'm probably being dense, but I don't understand your point.

Yup
Youve had your appearance cancelled havent you.

my theory is the biggest c*nt on the programme was that nice social worker Graham - he should know better than selling out to that sh*te, mind you if I knew his salary I might be more understanding. Scumbags like Kyle are bad enough, but when they are cloaked in respectability they are truly disgusting imho, bit like Albert Speer, on one level he was the guiltiest of all the Nazis, a true cynic.

Mocking people is one thing.....making money out of mocking people is another.

These people are sticklebacks and should find themselves something more productive to do for a living other than throwing custard pies at mongs.

Same sentiment for the undateables. At least with JK they sign up for the circus and willingly go on there to air their dirty laundry.

Undateables is a program designed to laugh at people with disabilities dressed up as a virtue crusade.

Yeah, agree. He's nothing more than Jezza's enabler. Brings an air of creditworthiness to the bullying.

jezza kyle is a parasite, feeding of the most vulnerable people's misery.

I used to watch the JK show. Regular, as I could.

I have subsequently discovered they gave accommodation pre-show to 'guests', which included a mini-bar (for alcoholics), access to internet and pron, and freedom to indulge in other illegal/immoral activities just before filming.

JK was a salesman in a previous life. Then a radio presenter.

I feel tarnished, like some person who's bought some stolen goods, in complete innocence.

JK helped no-one but himself. His attitude was to ride the misery of other people.
Well fck you JK. There are far more many MP's deserving of being denied an income. But let's start with you, because your news might just assist some politicians of swerving some unwanted limelight.

A good day to cover-up bad news
