I was just ruminating that we sold a young full back for £43 Mill rising to £50 Mill and we have brought in a right-back who was injured and hasn't played since January this year and another right-back who never played all last season and his last game was the final game of the 2018-19 season.

Furthermore, whoever we sign never goes into the team straight away.I dare say Eze might not have started if Schlupp had been fit.

I for one am pleased to see Nat back. I know he will never be as good as he was, but he was a fantastic player for us. I remember an evening cup game, maybe Southampton? He was terrorising them down the wing and one of their players just gave up trying to win the ball and just kicked him! Basically an assault, took the yellow and walked away - what a t***.
"He's just too good for you" was the song.
I hope he doesn't let us down...

Hopefully, it's a Wilf type return. I wouldn't like to have the memory of the young Clyne ruined.

What, one where he's rescued and brought back into the club, plays a couple of good seasons then gets too big for his boots, hands in a transfer request and then sulks by failing to put in any effort for an entire season?

I hope it's not a Wilf return, to be honest.

Schlupp is a much better fit than Eze in the system we have. Which is why I always ask, why would the board have confidence backing a manager, who buys a player that doesn't fit into our system.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Roy has very little to do with transfers but has to make do with who he's given which is why he gets his own back by not playing them

I think this could be the case. Its mostly conjecture. Not going to go over the factors again, but seems like the perfect storm. Cautious board and manager.

Or we get him back for much cheaper than we sold him for. He does well and retires with us, or is sold on at a profit after decent service for us.

The club have been able to have a good look at Clyne before offering it to him.

I would say that for once, the club have made a good, low risk decision

Completely agree. A good short term signing.
