Every national election victory there has ever been in this country has swiftly been followed by the comment from the losers that it was but a hollow victory, given that the majority in the country didn't vote for the winner.

Yesterday the BBC kept showing a recording of an angry Lib Dem lady saying (in effect) that she didn't know why Nigel Farage was so ebullient, because his party couldn't even get most votes "in his own area". Her logic being that the votes of the remain parties added up to more than the Brexit party's.

After the last GE Emily (white van man) Thornberry was telling the media that it was a victory for Labour err you actually lost albeit Corbyn did better than expected.

I see the Mail has picked up on BBC bias and some of the more ridiculous comments from prominent Remainers.

It really is worrying how people refuse to recognise what happened.

I can accept an argument that lumping together different parties under the Remain vs leave pots doesn't make sense as apart from the Brexit party and UKIP we do not know why people voted the way they did e.g. a a Green voter may or may not be a Remainer and the same applies to Labour.

I can accept an argument that you group the parties and their votes by their political manifestos as I did yesterday but even I acknowledge that is a weak argument. Labour officially is Pro Brexit and yet millions of Labour voters are probably Remainers.

The safest and strongest argument is to just view each party and their performance separately which is how we have always viewed elections in this country. In previous elections if the Labour vote was down the media didn't say ah but you also have to include the SNP and Lib Dem numbers etc so Labour did OK?.

What I cannot understand is those that argue that is was a victory for Remain those numbers are just being made up and bear no resemblance to any form of reality.

However some people will never accept that they lost.

It’s nonsense because the Brexit party beat Greens/Lib Dem votes.

Tories are pretty much mostly remain and labour are probably around half and half, give or take according to detail.

Anyone balanced can see their logic is flawed, however, these morons won’t accept it is and their disciples can’t see it’s flawed through their despair.

Whilst I sympathise we don't know the breakdown of Labour and Tory voters it's just guess work which is what the Remainers are also doing.

Yep. Again, this is guesstimating but I think 33% are sure they want us to leave whatever, 33% want to remain whatever it takes, and 33% are split halfway, or either side of halfway.

If the floodgates weren’t opened in 2004 we wouldn’t be talking about this at all because the backbenchers would never have the backing of the people bothered about it enough.

I notice that Mr Yaxley Lennon a man lauded on here as a true champion of the people who was destined to bring the unbelievers to their knees didn't do so well just like the party he advises the leader of.

Maybe we can stop talking about the rise of the "far right"* it hasn't happened. We don't vote for extremists in this country despite the Hard left and Far right claiming the other side are on the rise "but look at Trump and Europe" "Yup last time I looked that's not the UK".

* I don't think TR is far right, many do, I just don't like him.

That's the truth Rudi. The floodgates were opened 15 years ago and it has changed the landscape. Wages have flat lined and property prices have carried on increasing massively meaning a worse standard of living for the majority.

My Mrs is a teacher and yesterday she mentioned that she is only paid three grand a year more now than she was twenty years ago!

As you say, if this had not happened then most people really wouldn't have cared if we stayed in the UK.

Free movement of people was meant for companies to fill different positions not so the poor from one side of Europe can flood the other side.

The social democratics have changed massively in 15 years. Imagine if we stayed in what another 15 years time would look like??

You can't move in the South East as it is for new housing estates!

Now wouldn’t that be a great thing?
Here’s a quote from the man himself; how many politicians does this apply to?

“Do not rejoice in his defeat, you men. For though the world has stood up and stopped the b4stard, the bitch that bore him is in heat again.”
