As others have said, we've got enough deadwood already without adding more

Every time a potentially decent but injury-prone player becomes available, people claim we should sign him on a pay-as-you-play contract - but how often do you see a Premier League player sign such a contract? It doesn't happen. Either we pay him a huge weekly wage and take on the risk or we don't sign him - I'd rather the latter.

The only crosses I ever see from Townsend are when he goes down the right, stops goes back on himself and then crosses far and wide while the goalie is yawning

Him and wickham, great partnership... in the medical room.

and let's be honest, we are hardly known for our whipping crosses otherwise benteke would be banging them in.

Best answer of the lot.

I can see your logic but I think he's past his best. What you save on one hand you lose on another, and there's the possibility of him just being deadwood. Better to look to longer term options who can bed in and produce season after season.

Agreed. If we want to move forward, we can do without dodgy free agents who are past their best. Yes AC might have the odd good performance but we need someone who has a future and who can only get better.

would i bollocks.

the guy played the equivalent of 5 full games last season and scored 1 goal against a championship team in the fa cup.

he has averaged approx 20 appearances a season during his career, mainly bit part from the bench and averages a goal every 5 apps.

i would genuinely rather take chamakh out of retirement, and he was a busted flush.

Just as well he’s one of our best players then.

No way... as someone said there is already too much deadwood... and we don't need more potential problems with players that are prone to injury.

Palace should instead be investing with dedicated and clued up scouts in Europe and especially in South America, because that's where the value-for-money talent is flowing.

The relatively cheap talented young players in Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil usually go straight to Spain and Italy first and... we are not Spurs or Arsenal who are more clued up. They get these players first.

And here we are talking about Carroll ! Give me a break.

I would love to know more about the scouting system at Palace, as I for one am not happy. Living in S. America, I see a constant flow of good deals to Spain and Italy, oh yeah and to Spurs ffs.

Invest in decent scouts Palace... don't be a donkey.
