How far back do you go? Never mind the first Palace team you remember, who was the first goalie? For me it will always be Vic Rouse.

Although. I started supporting us late 70s the first keeper I really remember is George Wood.
I seem to remember a little decline in his fitness and expanding of the waistline.

The first one I really remember is the legend John Jackson very underrated (not by Palace fans).

Rouse for me. But why is this in the News and Politics section?

The great Jacko for me. The papers sometimes called him as Stonewall Jackson. Can’t see many footballers being compared to civil war generals these days.
The reserve goalie was Frank Parsons who I think used to drink in the Man of Kent in lower Sydenham.

The reason it's in the news and politics section is that the idiot that posted it (me) clicked on the wrong bit. Anyone who can remember Vic Rouse is entitled to be old and confused.

Alex Kolinko is the keeper in my earliest memories.. I was about 9 years old and I do vaguely remember something happening where he got punched by the manager or he punched the manager..
all i really remember clearly about him was him having a rather large hooter.

The great and aptly named Bill Glazier - Jimmy Hill paid us what was a world record fee for Bill in 1964 - and he was only 21 when he left.

I fit that category !
I recall Vic Rouse who like 'Stonewall' went on to play for L.Orient.

And when Vic Rouse was in goal we had Bert Howe at right back. He still frightens me 60 years later!
