So you dont vote for party policy then.
If you dont like the anti semitism which is very high up in the party; why not show this by either voting differently or not at all.
Tbh coincidence of your local mp helped not just because he is labour as you say.
Fair play though it is normal to want to reward help.

This is a fair appraisal I think, rewarding local MPs but not being blinkered to the policies of a party at national level.

If Corbyn beats Johnson in a general election I'll run around my garden naked.

That's only for the Illuminati meetings.

Well, I'd say that's reason enough to all hope for a Johnson victory.....Boris Johnson of course.

Surely no-one on this board can condone this? (or perhaps they can)

The same happened in the US a while back and unfortunately we do seem to go down the same road as them, albeit in a dialed down fashion.

These activists may be better suited to holding up signs asking for a bottle of milk and a multi vitamin.

Hypocrisy in its highest form as you're against by-elections for change UK MPs.

It really ought not be necessary to explain the fundamental difference between the two situations.

In one an MP remains in post, as chosen by the electors in their constituency. We don't vote for party delegates. In the other a PM has resigned their post and is being replaced by the votes of a highly unrepresentative group of electors.

For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally.

You should be a member then.
When has the general public of non members ever chosen a PM.
This is all how Corbyn got in to lead labour.
Nothing is new here.

You keep blathering on about MPs not being party delegates but of course they are. I vote for the Conservative Party in elections no matter who they put up as a local candidate because I agree with their manifesto and I expect our local delegate to vote in accordance with the party manifesto.

You talk about "fundamental differences" between the situations mentioned but the reality is that there are fundamental differences between what you think and reality in the world at large

Yes that's called Parliamentary democracy. The reality is that pretty much none of us have ever voted for a PM you have to live in their constituency to that.

I actually agree with you I would prefer a system where we could elect our leader nationally because since Thatcher the role of PM has become presidential whereas before that it was collegiate, "First amongst equals".

Until then we have to put up with the current process Callaghan and Brown were never voted into office. It would be nice if the new PM called an election within 6 months, we shall see.

Just a thought about Swampy and his mates camped outside Boris's flat. Boris and his girlfriend are not there and can afford to live elsewhere. That just leaves the protestors annoying his neighbours who were the people who started the media storm in the first place.

Payback is a ...

Do you mean those "lets hate the rich b*****ds" neighbours? The woman who was born in a multi-million dollar house in New York and bought the flat for well over half a million pounds. Seems they are not there either...bet they will be very popular with the neighbours when they return.
