Boris got 114 votes in the first round to Hunt's 43.

Leadsom, Harper and McVey drop out because they don't have enough votes. My guess is that over the next couple of days several more will do the same as they realise they are not picking up enough votes.

It will need a massive "stop Boris" Campaign from here.

Hunt is disliked by the public so I can't see a big surge to him. Gove may be a better PM but again I don't think the public warm to him.

It's Boris' to lose.

There's no way Boris is not going to be the next PM.

Buckle up lads. It's going to be 'interesting' at least.

The only person who will stop Boris from winning is Boris himself.

And that is a distinct possibility.

He has retreated to the 'Boris Bunker' and has not made himself available to scrutiny probably because he fears under intense questioning he could come a cropper.Only allowed 6 questions from the media at the launch which didn't go down well. But he is going to have to face the music.

Don't mind having Boris in charge to get Brexit done and dusted but it's after that worries me. I watched a documentary on the foreign office when he was foreign secretary and he didn't know his arse from his elbow and totally relied on the civil servants and embassy staff to tell him what was going on the stupid toff didn't have a clue.

I revealed the latest MPs voting intentions before the ballot today and mentioned there were still some MPs who had not declared for anyone at that stage.

In the ballot itself Johnson went from the 83 declared to 114.
Hunt from 37 to 43, Gove from 34 to 37.Raab stayed on 23,Javid went from 19 to 20, Hancock from 17 to 20 and Stewart from 7 to 19.
The 3 who were eliminated are all from the brexit wing of the party and perhaps the majority of MPs who supported them (Total of 30) will switch to Johnson.
Wouldn't be surprised to see a dropout,or two, before Tuesday's second ballot.

Coupled with this Tory Members poll, it looks like it will take quite something to derail him [Link]

To be fair, I think this is probably the case with most ministers in most governments.

I have spoken to a lot of grassroots activists and there is overwhelming support for Boris.

I don't doubt it. It will be interesting to see how he deals with the realities of the situation should he become PM.

In non Tory news, Chuka Umunna has joined yet another political party. A bet with a mate that went too far? [Link]
