Maybe he was to fat!

This would be a decent bit of business - both can make the step up and have room to develop and improve further. Would be a step in the right direction but our transfer policy must extend beyond this level of player to some players who have been at big clubs, have undoubtedly got the quality but for one reason or another haven’t achieved the heights once expected of the - e.g Sturbridge, Welbeck, Drinkwater.

Reports this morning that Sheefield Utd, yes Sheffield Utd, are trying to pull off an audacious swoop for Neal Maupay.

If that happens, and we start the season with a misfiring Benteke, injured Conor Wickham and utterly useless Sorloth then our management really is inept.

Yeh, but when it comes to transfers we already knew that.

It Sheff U and Norwich are buying decent championship players for the following season after their inevitable relegation. Villa, on the other hand...

Maupay reminds me of the likes of Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen, opportunistic goal poacher and deadly in the box. Not many box players in the game nowadays with most teams playing with a lone striker up front but he seems to manage well, he links up well with other players and looks lively off the ball. Not sure about Watkins but I've seen clips of Benrahma, another Brentford player who topped the assist chart last season. Reckon we could take a punt on him to replace Zaha if he goes.

I still firmly believe that, if fit, Wickham can be a decent PL striker. I'm convinced he is an upgrade over Benteke - better workrate, as good at holding the ball up and a more natural finisher. But that "if fit" clause is a huge one.

Norwich, thus far, have only brought in winger Patrick Roberts on loan from Man C and striker Josip Drmic on a free from Borussia Monchengladbach.

Sheff Utd have signed Phil Jagielka on a free and midfielder Luke Freeman from QPR, fee undisclosed.

Benrahma is a wonderful player, but their chairman has said that he's not leaving for less than 20 million.

Aston Villa made a 9 million offer and he's supposedly watched by Arsenal too.

If he could be brough for 10-12 million, I think it would be a great price.
