Platini arrested by French police over alleged Qatar payments. Currently being questioned and odds on England hosting 2022 have been slashed.

Columbia lost it in 1983 three years before the 86 World Cup so there is some precedent.

Thoughts?

FIFA are the ones who should lose it, corrupt c*nts.

Why do they have a monopoly on it anyway?

When was the last tournament that went on merit and not to the highest bidder?

Unlikely.

FIFA have already cleared Qatar over corruption allegations yes I know it was probably a joke investigation.

Columbia lost the World Cup because of the civil war and lack of funds so I am not sure it's a fair comparison.

Of course I would love to be proved wrong as a WC in Qatar sounds as exciting as watching paint dry.

Here's the story about Platini

Trivial fact - Palace used to win 5-1 at least once a season, maybe next season?

Precedent, but no comparison. If you start to look, the Qataris and some of their senior citizens have positioned themselves in a pretty strong position in various influential parts of the sport globally. I would very much doubt FIFA will risk rocking that boat.

In the very unlikely event that Qatar were to have the cup taken away from them, I very much doubt it would come to England. A joint Israel, Jordan and Lebanon bid perhaps?

Platini, what a chump. Such an incredible player, but all most will remember him for now is being a dodgy b******.

Was it with it, for a few million quid, Michel?

Prick.

No chance. If it was to be hosted somewhere else it would have to be somewhere that could feasibly organise a major sporting event at short notice. The plethora of stadia and the recent olympics as well as the transport infrastructure is why we are favourites if it’s stripped. Not saying we are the only option, just the most easy.

Money:
The reason Qatar got the WC
The reason why it won't be stripped from them

Qatar has spent £gazillions on brown envelopes and building of stadia with slave labour.
Platini will be used as a sacrificial lamb to divert attention from the wholly corrupt FIFA.

England has the football heritage (we invented it), the stadiums (Wembley, Tottingham, Emirates,,..etc) and the fans.

You can't fight money with logic

Qatar is not liked by other countries in that region. The only way they could lose it is if enough of them gang up on Qatar and force FIFA into moving it. So far there is no sign of this happening.

Personally I think the WC should only be awarded to countries that have made a contribution to world football. Russia was due one it was unfortunate that England went for that one.
