I like Roy but wonder if he has taken us as far as he can. What Rafa achieved at Newcastle was impressive. Anyone else think Rafa would be a good fit for Palace?

Rafa will be leaving Newcastle because he hasn't been given the transfer funds he needs. I would love him at Palace but he won't get those guarantees here either.

He is much more likely to end up at a top 6 club here, or a top 3 club in Spain/France/Italy/Germany. I am sure Man Utd would love to have appointed him had they not jumped the gun with Solkskaer.

Rafa would never come to us as he has already worked with one controller.

Whilst his success is evident, I always become suspicious when a manager has so many clubs. Is Rafa such a saint?!

Those complaining about Roy did so because he sometimes played what was perceived to be an overly defensive game. Did anyone watch Newcastle last season? Only the bottom 4 scored less goals. Without significant investment he would likely do the same at Palace but receive a higher wage for it. Not that this is a remote possibility anyway.

Rafa's management skills no doubt kept them up and they will probably struggle to stay up next season, depending on their next appointment, occupying one of the bottom three spots with any luck.

No chance he'll come to a club of our stature or budget. He's going to a big club somewhere in Europe or at least one with money to splash.

So you think Rafa would come to a club that is about to sell one of it's best players?

Ha ha.

Like I suggested before, selling AWB is a clear message to everyone else that our club has no ambition on the pitch.
Survival by the fingertips is our only aim.

What I like about Rafa is that he will change his approach and style depending on his resources. He has done well at rich sides and not so rich sides. He is a good manager.

I would love to see Rafa at Palace, however, I would assume that he will get much better offers elsewhere in terms of bigger clubs with bigger transfer budgets and European Football

I wouldn't be surprised if he returned to Chelsea.

Really? He spent more money than Roy, was more defensive and his side scored less goals. Roy was criticized as too negative, and for playing on the counter, yet that is what Benitez does.

He is an excellent coach, but I am not sure he would be significantly better than what we have right now: especially given the likely cost of switching out Roy and providing a transfer budget.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it.
