With the greatest of respect, I do read a plethora of articles on football and consequently I do gain knowledge from these and other sources.

Not too many moons ago, I was discussing the article in some depth,with someone who has been involved in such matters (Not at Southampton) ,hence the reason,I suspect, that I retained the detail.

I thought I was being helpful in providing such information but clearly there are those who view my contributions in a different light.You cannot please ALL of the people All of the time !

You have made your point, I have provided an explanation, now let's return to the subject matter and not get side-tracked by other matters.

Utter rubbish!

All you do is research the subject matter in response to a thread title or previous post and then try and pass your response off as your own knowledge or information. It spoils every thread and ruins the occasional decent contribution that you have to make.

If you’re going to post stats, facts or details then fine but just don’t try and make out that the information was from your memory bank.

The posts you start with....’If my memory serves me right’ or ‘I may be wrong but I seem to recall’, are just so cringeworthy, tiresome and unnecessary. Give it a rest.

I did state that I wouldn't respond but I feel duty bound to do so.

Only recently I posted that I am not averse to availing of the Internet to attain such facts - Goodness me, I don't store all the detailed statistics in my head !

And I am not averse to including a 'Link' as I did quite recently in terms of Brentford and their 'Moneyball' recruitment ethos so I certainly didn't provide extracts in the manner that has been suggested in terms of Southampton.

Finally if I use phrases akin to "If my memory serves me well" etc etc, this is due to the fact that I have NOT done any research and am relying on my grey matter which appears to be diminishing by the day !

Certainly people on here have totally read me incorrectly and their mindsets are in stone.I have been very self-deprecating on HOL and have certainly NOT sought to portray myself as a font of all knowledge.Far from it !

This really IS my last post on this matter.I shall refrain from responding to any further brickbats.I think it is in the interests of ALL that the thread returns to the subject matter.Thank You.

Willo please stop making a bloody fool of yourself. As Phils's Barber has said, claiming other writers comments as your own totally diminishes the useful contributions that you do make on here. Yes you do deal politely with criticism, but I'm afraid that, for many, that doesn't detract from the considerable irritation that your supposedly, but questionable, massive store of information holds.

Like most others on here, if you're quoting or lifting a comment, stats., etc. from elsewhere, for goodness sake have the good grace to say so, there's no shame in it; I haven't had an original thought for years! And when you're caught out in a lie, admit it like a man rather than trying a ridiculously obvious barrier of deflection.
