I was in Miami a few years back. When looking out of my hotel window 40 odd stories up I saw a raptor or vulture pluck one straight off the wing (I'm guessing to take back to the nest to feed it's youngsters)

As a 15 yr old, I landed a summer job for the RSPB as assistant warden on Handa Island in the Inner Hebrides, Scotland. The skuas and Herring Gulls there were vicious barstewards when nesting and we had to use long sticks to defend ourselves from attacks. On two or more occasions they took scalp flesh from visitors much to my joy. Back in the bothie, we chuckled that if they were from Brighton then they deserved it. And no, the word seagull is a layman's term, and is not used by biologists or ornithologists whereas eagle is a legitimate name. And hence the phrase.... Eagles s*** on seagulls. forever and ever,.... amen
