We are all entitled to our opinions including me. You obviously rate RH bravo. I think he has lost the plot and should retire no doubt about it. I used Dougie as an example only because his name was mentioned in this thread already and for that reason only. So calm down and take a chill pill what I put was my opinion and I stick by it. Be a terrible world if we all agreed on everything would it not?

It's not about me rating Hodgson.

And of course you are entitled to an opinion.

But it wasn't an opinion you were stating when you said that he's lost the plot - you were stating that as a fact '' as many of us already know ''.

I do get frustrated that Hodgson gets blamed for things that he may not have control over and your post was an example of that.

And if he genuinely has lost the plot then that doesn't reflect well on his employer does it ?!

Anyway, one more year of his contract and the expectation that he can keep the club in the Premier League with minimal support in the transfer market - unless that changes in the next two weeks.

I was told in the week that there could be some transfer activity by the middle of this coming week but of course we will know if this comes to fruition.

Overall there has not been too many incoming transfers in the PL whereas some clubs in the lower divisions have been very active, securing loan deals and free transfers.Someone mentioned to me that Northampton have signed 12 players, Brad C 10 players etc etc.

But the rub is, who told you? was it the postman or someone in the know

I certainly do not believe that RH is in the dark as much as he makes out. Unknown to us he has probably been offered players by SP and DF but has refused them as he plays who HE wants to play end of story. IF he had a large squad to choose from each week he would still pick the same old team he likes and not who is best and would STILL not make any substitutions as we all know. He tends to waffle on to the press how hard done by he is and makes some really silly statements too. I have a feeling that SP and DF do not tell RH everything because of his loose tongue. In my opinion I think it is time for RH to retire and put his feet up. He has lost the plot as many of us know already know. He is looking old...very old and just scrapes a result when we are desperately needing one. In my opinion why should SP spend millions on players when RH will not play them but sticks to his own old tired formation. You only have to look at our home games last season.........what a load of tosh. Someone said they could see Dougie taking over and to be honest I think we would see an entirely different football played by our team AND winning at home. I really glad RH only got a years contract but hope it is not our downfall to lower things!

I didn't realize we played a different a different team for home and away games

You would think so looking at our results would you not

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.

I think Allardyce and Pulis both walked because they wanted to push on and buy players we could not afford on wages that would break our already too high structure.

Neither really cared for the clubs well being, only Palace's short term success under their tenure which obviously would have boosted their profiles, given them job offers at bigger clubs with bigger budgets and happily walked out on Palace leaving the club to bridge the finacial gaps.
On this occassion Parish was 100% right not to give in to their demands.
Problem in this scenario is Roy is not actually asking for the stars. Just replacements to fill gaps. We need defensive cover in the centre, at RB, LB and a striker that can actually score goals. I dont believe Roy is asking for anything unreasonable to be able to do his job and keep us in the division this year.
If no one comes in and Wilf goes I think we are in trouble.

I agree with a lot of this.

Pulis and Allardyce are the kind of managers to bankrupt a club if their chairman doesn't say no. They both had significant investment by our standards. In fairness to both managers the players they got in proved largely to be good value. In fairness to the club, they simply could not find a great deal more money once that initial investment was made.

The figures for CPFC at companies house were very helpfully reproduced somewhere on this board in the last few days and they show that Parish has given our managers everything the club can afford, plus a fair bit more in loans from the shareholders on top. A lot of that money went on big investment signings like benteke and sakho, whilst the loans went on reinforcements in the January after allardyce arrived.

The deals we've done will often be paid for in instalments for three or four years after, and so if Hodgson doesn't get the same squad investment as some of his predecessors it'll be because the club has done its load already, and the outcome of that investment is what we see running around out there keeping us in the league, which they have done so far. Some people seem to feel cpfc is failing if they don't invest significant sums every transfer window, but that's not how it works for clubs like us.

When man city buy a player they can afford for it to not work out. They did 42 million on Mangala (before wages) and decided he wasn't for them. When we spend a notable amount on someone it's got to work out. Cabeye, Townsend, Benteke etc have all had long periods of being underwhelming, but they are a bit like that old advert that said a dog is not just for Christmas, it's for life; We have no choice but to see our initial commitment to these signings through to conclusion.

There will be periods when the squad plainly would benefit from a high quality signing or two, but there simply isn't a deal out there we can afford for a player we want and who wants to come to us.

It might be that Hodgson is going to have to solider on with what we've got, because what we've got is what we spent all the money on already.

Looks like Roy is saying the same things as the fans about lack of transfer activity. It also seems AWB leaving has created a bigger problem than we thought. To not have a half decent replacement for him will come back to bite us in the arse big time..

Don't agree with that both are experienced managers in this league so know what it takes and we had a Championship squad.

Pullis did a great job with what he had to work with.

Had Big Sam not pushed for those Jan signings we would of been relegated it's that simple.

Why should you need people that care about the club you don't it's the same with any job you are their to do that job and get paid for it.

Again same as any job you advance that is how it should be you are just presuming they would spend lots of money and leave the club in trouble which is false and shows you know nothing about both those men they are not Harry. This is also towards TheBigToePunt comment.

Roy isn't asking for anything you can tell the manner he has he doesn't want to be involved in this stuff so he just will let the likes of Dougie go out and then tell Roy whats on offer this for me is wrong Roy should be more hands on this is what Pullis and Big Sam was doing which I don't think SP liked that he wants bargain basement people.

We have needed many players for years even last year we was all saying much bring in 5-6 did we no the season before 4-5 no again this is why the squad is so short of talent.

Wilf wont go without something being sorted even if it's loan deal for someone still plenty of time to go we always do business last two days of the window so we should all just wait until then.

Some one mentioned some lower league teams bringing in lot of players well yes Northampton do this all the time that place relies on loans and players going they bring players in its stepping stone and very toxic place.
