Many on here want the club to be more savvy with its money, I don't think giving away cash unnecessarily is what any of us want to see. What? The going rate for saving doomed teams, clubs, their owners and finances from relegation is into the 1,2... millions. What you or anyone else earns is irrelevant. The date that Pulis had to stay you could argue was to trap Pulis from leaving to another club, which it’s runoured was West Ham, but then I think they hired Allardyce due to availability. Pulis was trying to sign players he wanted and not who Parish wanted. It’s irrelevant whether Zaha, crouch, etherington or whoever else is favoured by Pulis or Parish or not. There were issues going on because we weren’t signing anybody, and you know, because I’m sure it’s been said here plenty of times, that Pulis would’ve spent money, that was essential, especially after saving money in our first season, and Parish wasn’t spending anything but wanted to wait until 3 matches had passed. Pulis walked out just before the first match. There are pros and cons to Parish’s handling and hiring of managers, or why we’ve gone through them, or to be precise, why we’ve had to hire emergency managers who’ll expect certain things. They lay out the home truths to Parish of why we’re likely to be relegated. It’s again why I accept Roy’s football. Parish and us are lucky Roy is here, even though the match day stubbornness is infuriating so often. Edited by Rudi Hedman (30 Jul 2019 8.28pm)

Pulis deserved every penny of his bonus as not only did he ensure Premiership football for us but he also saved Parish a shedload of money in the process. He may well not have fulfilled his contractual obligations which is a different matter No it isn't. He doesn't deserve it because he didn't stick to his side of the agreement.

Regardless of 'moaning' the manager must be very concerned at the lack of a replacement for AWB and only one left back in PVA. Average players to provide cover will just not do for these positions IMHO.

Nothing like the same situation and Pulis left with disagreements over how we conducted and, as it turns out, always conduct transfer activity. Do nothing until until the last possible moment. Pulis achieved what we all thought was an impossible task at the time, unless you were confident in the mess we were in putting 3 attacks over the final third each match. There’s as much trapping a manager 3 weeks into the season when we do nothing on recruitment as there is the manager being discontented with what happens or doesn’t happen. Great, Parish isn’t to be taken advantage of, but please don’t try to paint this image of him being squeaky clean and knowing more than any manager out there. How many times have we messed up the first half of the season, including that very season under Warnock? Only once have we been prepared. Under Pardew. Only once.

I'm seriously concerned about our ability to attract a good manager after Hodgson retires. Pulis and Allardyce leaving, with transfer activity surely playing a big part, and even in this transfer window we're leaving it late (and who knows, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't actually buy the players we need before the end of the window). FDB fired after 4 games (right thing to do, but would still deter a manager from trying to come in and transform things), and even Holloway recently said in an interview how he thought Parish had broken his agreement with him. Everybody knows we screw around with transfers and are never prepared for the season ahead.

Also, following Mauricio Pochettino's comments the other day - maybe Roy should be titled coach too, if he's not in charge of transfers.

I recall last season, Sarri commenting that he didn't know what was happening transfer wise which raised a few eyebrows but it would appear this is fairly normal on the Continent - looks to be spreading to these shores! Long gone are the days when a manager, and assistant use to traverse the length and breadth of this country, often in inclement weather to scout a player in midweek.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'seb stafford bloor' by bexleydave I think that's his name - wrote a great article a month ago re Parish and Palace - here's another - says Zaha is papering over cracks - we have no vision, our buys have no sell on value , our squad is ageing and imbalanced esp if you compare with Bournemouth this journo seems to have a pretty keen eye and has got our club's number imho - he's probably a fan!
