Utter nonsense, it was Roy that notice AWB and trusted he was good enough to throw in at the deep end.
There are some true morons on here that seem to think our youth players are all world beaters. News flash, they are not. We (as with many Prem clubs) have some promising youngsters with big potential. This is the Premiership where every point is precious. Roy cannot afford to risk Palace's place in the division as well as his own job/reputation on potential. We simply cannot to take the gamble and it wouldn't be fair to put that kind of pressure upon a youngster unless the coaching staff are 100% certain he is ready either.
Sure, Once we gain mathematical safety and are no longer chasing league position, other possible outcomes fine, throw in a couple of youngsters and see how they do.
Not exactly covered themselves in glory every time they have been given a chance in the cups though have they?

When I'm Roy's age (if I'm lucky) I wont give a monkeys about a job or reputation.
If he can play a different system for say 4 or 5 games and it goes south then us 'morons' will shut up and accept we need to be defensive and boring.
At the end of last season we played attacking football. Ok so we were safe but our opponents wernt totally and we didnt get gubbed.
It's different games against different teams.
Top 6-8 yes defensive.
Bottom 6-8 get into them.
Middle teams change midway as and how the game is playing out.
I dont expect it to be like city or the bin dippers but a bit of excitement for my 1k a year would be nice.

for me...the salient point here whatever your POV is that first & foremost the target for everybody involved in the club is to stay in this league year on year...that will be the blueprint in which the seasons plan is built on.

if we fail to do that...we could very easily be financially f***ed.

i also assume roy gets a extra million quid or so at the end of the season for achieving this...that alone for me would be enough to be pragmatic until a point we know were not getting sucked into trouble.

it is not unconceivable to think we could have 30 points by new years day...i would assume then maybe we could afford to play with a bit more freedom, im sure that would appease some of the more critical of posters on this forum.

You could try this earlier and go back defensive with a big finger in the air to all of us who were wrong if we get trashed.
For all roy knows the team may even surprise him.

yeah we tried that before & it cost pardew his job after doing a solid job...then we had to swallow fireman sam being in charge of the club as a result.

its very easy to have these ideas of grandeur when were not the ones charged with ensuring the beanstalk keeps producing magic beans.

Pardew's football was kamikaze.
If he had done his job properly and been sensible he might even still be in charge!
Allardyce and Pulis did what it said on the tin but it was more exciting and passionate than what we have to watch now!
I agree with the Charlton - " be careful what you wish for" - but we have to change sometime.
We have made some monumentally bad signings and paid them silly wages because we felt we had to when we didn't and so we are tied into yet another few years of seeing them off our books - unless of course your name is "sicknote" Wickham or "Barn door Benteke" in which case you get a new contract for doing nothing at all!

How exactly are we going to keep possession in attack when we fans let alone the opposition know we cannot complete enough passes to sustain attacks for any length of time, our players collectively are not able to do this and I'm pretty sure deep down you know this too, it's just frustration ..we are where we are at this moment and we have to accept it.

They keep lumbering Roy with players he doesnt want so Roy in turn refuses to pick them. I think he wanted Kouyate Ayew Cahill McCarthy and Guaita but none of the rest

Pardew was extremely entertaining but it wasn't always for our pleasure, fans are saying that Hodgson should be doing the same with the same ability of players, it'll end exactly the same very entertaining but not just for us, solid is the key word and Pardew was a disaster with being solid, his biggest and most stupid mistake was not playing Murray when he was fit after his horror injury and for that alone his should have been shot.

In the final analysis, the Hodgson methodology has secured us 11th and 12th place finishes so one could advance the argument that the end has justified the means.Furthermore, there are not too many who believe we will be relegated this season.

Willo - I agree - you can't argue with the stats but the fans want to see a little more from our players and the Manager is stifling them.
Mistakes are made needlessly because they are under so much pressure defensively.
When the pressure is relentless then we will make mistakes but if we are allowed to play a little higher up the field then the pressure would be reversed.
I think that generally our players need to be allowed to play to their strengths which is not happening at the moment.

It doesn’t even need to be against the whole league. If Roy is such a good tactician he’ll be able to see which teams he can do it against. It doesn’t even need to be the whole match or both fixtures either. You’re possibly looking at not that many as opposed to about a few games in April or May.

Why would I want to meet up with a moron???
