Southampton just blew us away from start to finish, which I did admire for team of no real stars as you say. The football was good to watch and their press from back to front was exactly how I'd like us to play. They exploited our ageing team that have played too many games on the bounce due to injuries. If we'd started with Townsend, Ward, Luka, Schlupp, Sakho & PVA fit, I would suggest it would have been a closer match up on the night with our added pace, composure and goal threat. Hell, even Benteke at least would have brought us some hold up play under pressure. Had Tosun scored, I think the game would have gone very differently and that seemed to knock his confidence for the remainder. Don't forget, Saints had the luxury of resting Ings and had the backup of Che Adams too. Roy doesn't have any current options with injuries and lack of investment. Roy is who the club need right now and when players return from injury, we will finish the season strong. Within the next 18 months we most evolve and I'd like to see Roy retire at the end of next season on a high, with a new manager groomed under his stewardship and hopefully new owners to kick us on.

City missed a bag of chances in the first 15 minutes, and if they had fouled Wilf up the pitch, as Guardiola had coached them to do, then they would not have given up the equaliser in stoppage time. Wickham and Meyer or 2 duds.We hadn't a single player on the bench that would have made a difference to that performance. The 11 basically picked itself and has done for the past few weeks. And for anyone who thinks Meyer is the answer to our woes. He came on for half an hour and played central where you all have been crying for and he got thrown around like a rag doll. The chap is not good enough for this division.

We have an ageing and tired team and, though I don't like saying this, an ageing and tired manager. The team needs new blood and RH, who has been terrific in so many ways, now needs to go. Southampton aren't a better team than us but what they brought to the game last night was adventure and the desire to win. We constantly set up in a defensive and uninspiring way. Our greatest moments are about snatching draws and avoiding defeats. Although we've been badly hit by injuries I can't help but feel that we make too excuses for ourself. At the moment we are playing negative and poor football and that's not what being Crystal Palace is about. I've no idea who should replace Roy but I know that if the team isn't renewed soon and the manager isn't changed then next season we will be fighting for our Premier League lives. Time to say a huge thank you to Roy and move on.

I know its all about the bottom line and staying aboard the gravy train and having his hands tied by the Americans but.. Stevie P must be watching these turgid, anti-football displays and be shuddering like the rest of us. No shots on target and no corners at home against Southampton.. Jesus wept! I'm pretty sure he had a word with Dougie when he was manager to improve the style of play and he also went in the direction of RdB for his 'style' so you would assume hes hating this like everyone else.. even from his very differing perpective. Good God it was bloody awful yesterday. We are the Brighton of last season. Its a real tough watch.

Give Meyer some credit he played through a couple of lovely through balls to Wickham and Zaha which split the Soton defence open which hadn't happened before he came on

So many questions I would love to ask Roy if I got the chance, main ones being Why do you not like playing any creative midfielders, why is our passing so bad, our throw ins so bad, why our players are afraid to shoot from outside the box, why is the build up play so slow and laboured. As it is I get the impression Roy might quit come the end of the season, he still hasn't signed the contract extension offered to him and I think our lack of funds and signings have left him very downbeat which is fair enough.

In terms of 'Throw-in' I recall early in the game, Kelly taking a thrw-in and it landed on the head of an opposition player who was unchallenged.I was one unimpressed hombre. Apropos not shooting from distance, the QPR manager Mark Warburton forbids his players from shooting from over 22 yards from goal. Finally, Roy Hodgson has secured 2 survivals with very limited funds and should he do so again this season,it will be 'Mission accomplished' as far as the owners are concerened whilst all of us have had to endure some dross this season,last night being the lowest of the low.Disgraceful. When we had Loftus-Cheek Roy used him as an attacking midfielder, and we were playing him with Cabaye, Andros, Wilf and a striker, and we produced some of the best attacking football we played recently (ex. 3-0 vs Leicester).

Some perspective needed, please. Everyone agrees yesterday was very poor (including the manager and the players) but there has never been a time at Palace where we have had a season with not one poor performance. Every single loss is greated with 'Hodgson must go', 'Parish is rubbish', 'the players are rubbish'.... This from supposedly the best supporters in the country, get a grip. Let's expect a good performance against Shef Utd after a break, one bad performance doesn't ruin a season.
