I’m not saying he will, but if Wilf goes in January then Ribery could be an ideal temporary replacement if still available. You can probably guarantee that the winger/forward we want to sign won’t be.

Age is just a number. Real age is not the same as ID card age.

Ribery runs faster than many 26 year olds.

Does it matter that the ID says he's 36? He was made for this game, looks many years younger than others.

Considering that we just signed Jordan Ayew on at least 50.000 a werk (a players who doesn't offer half the goals Ribery would offer) and that we can offload either Benteke or Wickham on 120k or 60k to a Chinese club who at least payd half their wages and just play Zaha up front as starter and send Riedewald on loan to the Serie A or Dutch league with them paying half his 60.000 wages, I think we can give up on 2 players who won't even matter in this season to make room for an 85k salary of Ribery, who guarantees goals and assists

Unfortunately it is not that easy. The players have to agree to go on loan. Why would Wickham want to go and live in China? He has a young family here (and don't say money as there is more to life than that and he is/has earned a good living already). Can't see why you would lose numbers from your squad for a 36year old who probably wouldn't bust a gut for his money, as he has nothing to prove. We have trimmed our wage bill to conform to FFP.

I know it's August, and therefore less likely, but I could swear that I heard a couple of cuckoos today.

You just need the editor on FM and it really is easy. Just like real life.

Does it look like rocket science to save money from the 2 contracts of Riedewald and Wickham??

Yeah, I am surely talking nonsense that this should/will be done.

Wickham should even agree to go on loan to League One. The man needs playing time after 3 years.

You may be right but I would suggest the Championship, however, we cannot afford to lose him from the squad, as you may have noticed we did not sign any new strikers in the summer

Championship clubs can't make transfers or loans anymore

Irrelevant now as he won't be going anywhere as, like it or not, he is our back up striker.

Your fundamental problem is the assumption that you actually know the numbers for a fact: you don’t. As such all your claims are essentially based on a false premise. Furthermore, your assumptions about the ease of getting rid of players simply do not stand up to scrutiny. If they did I suspect a number of recent players would have been moved out of the club pretty quickly, whereas in the real world the club had to either pay them to leave or wait for their contract to run out. That is the reality.

Last, just because someone has had a good record in the past is not a guarantee of future good performance: it is merely a guide to what might be expected. You seem to ignore that fact.

@NickinOX

You're right. I don't know the numbers. It was just a transfer suggestion. None of us do. It may be that the club can already afford to pay 85k a week salary after all the departures: Sako, Puncheon, Souare, Mutch, AWB etc.

But for the sake of the discussion, I signalled Riedewald and Wickham as players who are still pretty high earners and could make move for others
