Sometimes an ordinary movie can be released just at the right time and capture the public imagination. Personally I have never been a fan of Easy Rider however there weren't that many Hollywood movies that embraced the alternative lifestyle at that time so it rode the wave. I don't think it stands up to the test of time although you can say that about a lot of movies that were successful in their day. RIP Peter sorry I preferred your dad as an actor.
