The biggest indictment of yesterday’s disaster was then Sheff Utd wanted it more – plain & simple. Not only that but the whole set up at Palace seems one of quiet complacency – supposedly a close group of players who probably are under the illusion that they are too good to be relegated.
Ironically with Wilf staying this complacency has probably increased amongst the other players and god only knows where Wilf’s head is (and this feet are) at the moment.
Let’s all be big enough to also hold up our hands and recognise what a breath of fresh are Sheff Utd on yesterdays exhibition from manager to plateys to fans.
So what happens next – well the script says that we go to Old Trafford & paly half decent (a plucky performance) & narrowly lose – since we cannot be complacent against the big 6.
Looming ahead after that (Colchester apart) is the big white elephant – Villa at home.
This to me is the measure of what we really have on our hands this pre-January season and how hungry this club really is to earn their place in this league and get our supporters excited again.
It could be a really long season this….

Quite often following disastrous performances, particularly at the beginning of the season, there is an expectation that the players will look to rectify it as repeating will be grossly unacceptable. However if often does happen and probably will.

I would take 1-1 with Villa right now. At least that way it's a point and more importantly will mean we would have scored.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Unless Dean Smith is a complete mug, we will get 1 point maximum from the Villa game. They will let us have the ball, we will do nothing with it, maybe our defence will get caught out. 0-0 or 0-1.

I really think we have an equal chance of getting something away at United as home against relegation strugglers.

Guaita

Ward - Kelly - Cahill - PVA

Luka

Camarasa - Meyer

Townsend - Wickham - Zaha

If we don't line up line like this, Hodgson out.

Assuming we lose against United, as we never seem to do well at Old Trafford, is the Villa game already a must win considering what we have after that?

it's a must not lose for certain.
Will wait to see the team sheet before deciding if it's a must win. Same old with Benteke then def must win otherwise I fell the crowd will be very unforgiving.

Yes, a must win in my mind. Villa will be hungry for three points & will think that they can grab them based on the Sheffield game.

Nice try, never gonna happen, as long as Roy is in charge. Just saying it as I see it.

Guaita.
Ward . Kelly . Dann . Useless t***
Mcarthur/Mcarthy . Luka . Fat useless t***
Townsend . Lazy t*** . Zaha

Just my opinion you understand

What is the point of playing Zaha ?

This obviously isn't the Zaha we all knew before, he doesn't want to play for us that is known, but he is hardly going to put himself in a position where he might get injured and doesn't get his move in Jan.

Maybe if he dropped to the reserves, then he might think twice because top teams aren't going to pay the money for someone who hasn't played for months. it would take him a while to be match fit.

Camarissa must play.

We will certainly need to be more attack minded, just to get the fans stirred up. I still can’t believe how poor we were in that second half at Sheffield.

You could say the same thing about Benteke. What's the point in playing a striker every week when you know he's not going to score.

This game will probably be an indication of our season ahead...
