Exactly this !

I would think that contracts have a relegation clause in them now.
Too many clubs didnt in the past so must be standard.
Not Ideal as players leave to other clubs but our wage bill would drop considerably.

A club has to want to buy them and pay their high wages of course.

I noticed that also and was thinking calm down calm down are you looking to get another. Perhaps you miss the card ?

It’s costing €400 for one game that’s getting near a season ticket price, would you be more likely to buy a season if you were nearby or is the rubbish football a complete deal breaker

I have some sympathy with the poster who mentioned it may not do any harm to go back to the Championship for a while.
We all seem to have been caught up in the Sky//Best league in the world/Moneybags hype that is the Premier League.
The fun of watching Palace (at least at home) has largely gone under Hodgson.
It was great fun watching the old third division team under Allison, the emergence of the play off winning team under Coppell and the play off winning team under Jedinak.
None of these were in the Premier League.
Last night I went to Charlton v Forest largely to check on the progress of old Palace boys Williams and Bostock.
They both played very well in substitute roles and it was a joy to go a reasonably priced game without the hype, VAR, and to see young players whom I had never heard of impress with talent and energy.
No Carragher, Neville or Shearer telling me what I should think.
Of course I will continue to go to Palace but it will be much harder for any young player to break into the first team in the Premier League and if one does emerge(like AWB) they will probably sold pretty quickly because of the high profile nature of the Premier League.
When we went up this time in the first couple of years we were very happy just to survive but 6 or 7 years on that does not seem much of an aspiration .
That is human nature with an increase in expectations year on year.
Last season I was terrified about going down and worried that we’d have to sell AWB and Zaha if that happened.
Well we’ve sold AWB anyway and Zaha still wants out.
We have become a stale club under a stale manager and that certainly isn’t ‘the Palace way.’

I agree with this :-) What would have helped in those 6/7 seasons just gone in the prem would have been some silverware / Wembley final win. Last season was a great chance but it all went downhill with that performance against Watford. What with being beat 3 times by them and those awful Brighton matches which caused a lot of doom and gloom amongst us fans :-(

If Benteke is our striker next season then I’m not going.

Not forgetting they put our season ticket prices up and have probably paid out a nice wedge for someone to put some rubbish pennants up on the street lights

there's nothing wrong with taking a break from being a season ticket holder, or SP regular. Rather than keeping on attending to the point of misery, resentment and bitterness, which happens to some fans.

Have a break, do something else at the weekend, come back in a few years if you fancy it. Your support of Palace will be much healthier for it.

It is not a case of feeling guilty. It is up to you whether you want to attend or not but your comments are beyond ridiculous. I went to my first game at Palace in 1948 (although I can't say I remember much about it) and the team we have had for the last two or three years is amongst the best I have ever seen.

For the vast majority of my time suporting Palace it would have been incredible to think we would spend so much time in the top league.

I notice the original post does not mention beating one of the best teams in Europe and the English champions at their ground last season.

If you don't want to support Palace any more, fine, but Just don't bother us with your wining.

May I respectfully suggest that he is quite entitled to give vent to his feelings on this forum just as many others have done and it's actually your whining without saying anything constructive that we could do without

I really struggle with the concept of "wishing for relegation".

Like others, I prefer Palace playing good stuff & having a demonstrably forward thinking future plan (both on & off the pitch).

I also think, like others, that relegation now might be blessing in disguise for the club & an opportunity to press the "reset" button.

BUT - when we are in the championship all we want is to gain promotion, so there's no real point in continuing to support a team if - once they achieve the promised land - just wishing them to get relegated again.

No not missing the card . and to be honest with you i did deserve it! Should never post while under the influence . yea i know what you mean if i was nearer i would but a season ticket but im in the asshole of nowhere in Tipperary im not gonna move now . you know what they say , " happy wife happy life " but by the time i take diesel , flights , car hire food, a few pints membership and tickets it up to 4 ton . my iptv only costs 30 per 3 months so i can watch every palace match from the comfort of my recliner ! and kick the dog when we lose !( poor f***er is getting used to it now and going for a walk when the footie comes on) I enjoyed going to the Brighton matches up to last season because of the hatred i have for them . Didnt enjoy it the last couple of matches i went to , we lost without any fight .
