Camarasa must start against Wolves

I think quite a few of us are starting to get a bit irritated by Roy's safety first tactics, trying to pinch games rather than stamp our authority. We need to start Camarasa next Sunday against Wolves. He is clearly very talented, maybe fitness has been an issue up to now, but trying him in a free role maybe in front of Luka and Jimmy Mac is the way forward. I will be really annoyed if Roy starts with a three of Luka, Kouyate and Jimmy Mac again, with Wilf and schlupp pushed up either side of Ayew. That formation suits us better away. We need to be more flexible at home with our tactics and formations

I agree, but Hodgson is not one for change unless it’s forced on him through injury.
The only surprising innovation I can recall was in his first season when he paired Zaha and Townsend up front and this worked reasonably well.
However, this was forced upon him as no strikers were available.
We have seen a pattern with Hodgson about not trusting overseas signings from outside the Premier League ( think Meyer,Riedewald,,Sorloth) and I fear Camarasa may fall into this category despite his experience in the Premier League.
Hodgson is always more likely to play Mcarthur, Schlupp or Townsend.
Makes me think Hodgson has little input with regard to our signings.

I agree. He has to start soon. He was the only player on our bench on Saturday that could have made a difference and he should have been given at least a half an hour as the game was already dead as a contest.

The only other player we have in our team who is capable of unlocking a defence or actually passing the ball 10 yards is Meyer and he is never going to be a regular.

I know I may be the only one to think this but I dont get the whole Schlupp thing. I reckon he is the first name on the team sheet! Granted he set up Ayew against Utd but thats all he's done. He's none effective in the centre of midfield. Even when he's on the left its not as if he takes on players at will. No creative spark at all. We've got Meyer and Camarasa that can open up defenses and bring players into play. Yet Roy will almost definitely play Schlupp/Mcarthur no matter what. Squad player at best. Roys really starting to get on my nerves. With his squad choice.

He was Cardiff's players' POTY last season and stood out in the games I saw. He's also pretty tough for a creative player from what I remember. He has said his best position is as the link between midfield and attack, so let's not mess about and just play him there. Luka, McArthur, McCarthy and Kouyate can then fight it out for the holding midfield roles. Schlupp or Townsend on the left, Zaha on the right. Ayew up top and Bentenke serving the puddings in the canteen.

Think you might be asking too much from Benteke

We will certainly need a change of tactic or we'll lose. I saw us play Wolves at home last year and for all the excitement about what a side they were, they were remarkably negative - they knew exactly how to win at Selhurst. Given that they've just shipped 5 against Chelsea, I'm sure defensive solidity is what they'll be working on. Classic Selhurst 0-1 loss incoming unless we play differently.

Wolves style of football is not very different to ours. They are defensive first with every man behind the ball then hit on the break. This is the reason they do well against the top teams a bit like ourselves. The big difference with them and us is they have decent strikers.

Matt Doherty is a massive player in the way they play and he has been injured since the start of the season but it looks like he will be back against us which is a negative.

I said to a mate at the start of the year that they will be found out this year and relegated.

Last season at ‘Selhurst Park’ Wolves we’re very negative and didn't deserve their 1-0 victory, They conceded 5 at home to Chelsea in their last game so will be hell-bent on keeping a clean sheet. One expects more negativity from them and of course we don’t have the creativity to break down teams. Could be another 1-0 win for Wolves.

In terms of comparison of systems, Wolves were promoted using three at the back and two wing-backs and have continued in this vein, we of course play with a back four.

The Europa competition is going to damage them for however long, that’s for sure.
